Crazy roads out there. Was trying to go from Mckenzie to the NW to see my Grandmother, but as soon as I got to Deerfoot I chickened out and turned around. Saw a bunch of accidents. Even with winter tires my wheels spin at the slightest touch of the peddle. Didn't want to risk a Deerfoot adventure like this so just turned around and came back home.

Be careful out there if you're driving today.

South must be different than the north, I did a bunch of running around today and it was fine.

It made the decision a bit easier

It's more that we were going to meet at a restaurant and I didn't want her driving around. Was also pretty blizzardy when I left, but it's calmed down quite a bit now.

Nah the whale guy is correct. Was just dropping off then picking up my kid from a bday party and it was a total #### show. Roads are brutal on deerfoot by that bend by Anderson.

Lady hosting her kids bday got in a car accident on her way to the site.

I cancelled or re-scheduled all my plans this weekend and am happily staying home. Now the wind needs to either blow all the snow off my sidewalk, or stop so that I can go out and shovel.

Roads have been a bit slipperly but my god the strugglers are out in full force. I've never had to honk at so many people cutting into my lane, going 20kmh under the limit, or flat out stopping at green lights.

More people need to get out to empty roads and practice losing control and slipping around.

The wife and our teenage son went to the SASC winter driving course today, perfect weather for it.

Yup, strugglers are awful. Some dumbarse stranded himself in the 10th st/16th ave intersection, and instead of driving through, since he was halfway through, he just sat there, blocking everyone. Finally reversed after he got horned from 4 directions. Figure it out, man! Light goes red, you exit the intersection. This stuff doesn't change when we get snow.

Glad I don't have to deal with Calgary and some of their idiotic drivers.

My sons hockey team had a game in air drive this afternoon. I left new Brighton and opted to,take Stoney to cross iron. Road was clear, and traffic was light, but the snow blowing across the road was weird looking and very mesmerizing.

Highway 2 was alright, but every once and a while In the left lane there would be mini white outs. Eventually moved into middle lane.

Does anyone know if on the main roads you follow the ruts that hover into lanes or stay in your lane no matter where the ruts go?

Driving in the middle lane on macleod, guy on my left follows his lane ignoring the ruts, guy on my right follows the ruts into my lane. Leaves me with half a car width in the middle.

I've always 'gone with the ruts' while in traffic, and tried to 'make my own ruts/expand the road/fix the ruts' if I'm driving on mostly traffic-clear roads. I think it'd also depend on having a vehicle capable of driving 'out of the ruts'

In your specific situation...that just sucks.

If ruts are well defined and there are as many ruts as there used to be lanes you follow ruts.

If there's other traffic I just do whatever everyone else is doing. If theres room I follow the actual lane

Ruts. Always the ruts. Don't even question it unless the ruts are way off course. Just use logic. Everyone is following the ruts. Driving on the mounds is dangerous. It's like birds flying beside each other. Keep a safe distance and forget about the markings on the road. They're only there as a guideline, and become useless in weather like this. People that drive on the mounds in an attempt to "do it right" are actual idiots, and they should have their licenses revoked.
