Only one I care about is Hathaway.
I think management has undervalued him for awhile and am worried they are going to let him go over an insignificant amount.
As for the others, I guess bring Quine back if he doesn’t want to go to Europe

I think Quine, Valiev, and Rychel stay.

Alan Quine
Garnet Hathaway
Curtis Lazar
Kerby Rychel
Tyler Graovac
Josh Healey
Matt Taormina
Rinat Valiev
I think all get offers, although I think Quine, Lazar and Hathaway might all look for higher paying one way contracts elsewhere.
One or more of the defensemen might look for a team with a clearer path to the show.

Lazar is probably brushing up on his Russian this summer.
I think Valiev stays, perhaps Quine as well.

Why would anyone trade anything for the UFA guys if they have a shot at a meddling NHLer via Free Agency?

These are the required Qualifying Offers for each of the Flames RFAs... - Bennett: $1,950,000 (one way)
- Foo: $874,125 (two way)
- Healy: $874,125 (two way)
- Lazar: $1,050,000 (two way)
- Lomberg: $715,000 (two way)
- Mangiapane: $715,000 (two way)
- McDonald: $874,125 (two way)
- Pollock: $735,000 (two way)
- Quine: $735,000 (two way)
- Rittich: $840,000 (two way)
- Rychel: $761,250 (two way)
- Tkachuk: $874,125 (one way)
- Valiev: $715,000 (two way)
Most will likely be qualified. The ones most-likely to be cut loose are Lazar, McDonald, and Pollock.
As for the UFAs: Graovac, Peluso, and Taormina all probably go wandering down the road trying to find another team to give them a chance for a year.
Prout and Fantenberg have both likely played their last games as Flames.
Hathaway and Smith are the only UFAs to likely get consideration for a new contract. Those will depend on what the player is looking for and who else is on the market. I wouldn't be surprised if both go unsigned prior to July 1, but might circle back if no one gives them an offer that blows them away.
Of the two, I'd say Hathaway is the one more-likely to sign before July 1.

Hathaway might want too much.
The organization doesn't really have a Hathaway-type in the system (fast, gritty guy who can pop in the odd goal), so they're likely looking on the open market.

I'd bring back Hathaway and Fantenberg. Especially, if we're moving out some dmen, I think we will keep one of Fantenberg or Prout and I like Fantenberg more

I hope one of them stays, too... prefer Fantenberg but Prout is a good injury fill-in, too, and he seems to be able to play a decent game, even when having sat for a long stretch.

Weird. I’d say Lazar is one of the least likely to be cut loose out of the RFA list. Obviously fan sentiment on him varies greatly.
After Tkachuk, Rittich, Mangiapane and Bennett the player with the highest upside and likelihood of being an nhler is Lazar IMO.

Do we know if finishing 5th on the Stockton heat in points was enough to get his confidence back?

Taking a while to get to 5000

Yeah I guess I don't see what others do in Lazar. I honestly don't think he'll be qualified.

The only one that is UFA that I noted trade worthy is Fantenberg. I could see him being part of a deal, as he is a decent #7 with some experience and grit.
The other 3 (Quine, Healey and McDonald) are all RFA, and good enough that I don't see Tre letting them walk for nothing, but likely not good enough to crack the Flames roster due to backlog at their respective positions. I'm sure Tre can get some value out of them either at the draft, or after a QO. Even if the deals are minor league deals, to get younger prospects, I just don't see those 4 returning, but like I said, valuable enough to get something rather than nothing.

We can't afford Hathaway under our current cap. Some team will offer more than what the Flames are willing to pay for his type of play.

Those guys have no value at all
Expecting any return for them is not realistic

Not even in a 'sweeten the value just a touch' scenario?

If he talks a story to local scribes about wanting to get better and admitting mistakes etc yet again he will be given the benefit of the doubt, again, as a “good kid”.
Hathaway was a standout last year, plain and simple. Points sure, but effective in the role he had away from the puck, in large part thanks to having a solid consistent line mate in Ryan. That and his chemistry with Ryan, and style of play, makes me really hope the Flames can make something work...assuminghhe doesn’t get Sandy McCarthy syndrome and figure he should be on the 2nd line.
