Default Looking to buy a new desktop gaming compiter

Hey guys I'm looking to get a gaming desktop and was wondering if anyone knew any good deals at the moment I don't know much about building them. Right now I am using my Asus rog laptop rig with 24 GB of ddr3 ram i7-4th gen processor and the 980m graphics card. It does the trick but I am looking for something in a desktop with a better graphics card that is vr ready Thanks for your help guys

I just spec a new system with dual 22 core cpu's, 256G of ram and the capacity for 10 x GPU cards. I can send over the price tag if you want. Should be able to handle some games and VR.

Look in buy and sell, was someone selling a pretty up to date custom built rig.

Filthy casual.

Edit: Robo, build, don't buy. It's really satisfying to put together a rig, and often costs less too.

You can get help here, or pcpartpicker.com, or /r/buildapc on Reddit.

Supermicro might be a good place to check out, I am sure they have gaming rigs or suggestions on what to add. With GPU's being so powerful and relatively cheap that seems to be the way to go.

I like Memory Express. Knowlegable staff and you can have them mount the CPU for you. I'd be surprised if you don't have any real-life friends who'd help you build it too.

+1 for Memory Express. They'll mount the CPU for free if you buy both it and the mobo from them, the rest is pretty simple. I really enjoyed doing my first build last spring, and saved about $1500 vs buying something pre built with similar specs

It's really not all that difficult especially if you get the guys at MemEx to mount the processor to the motherboard (which they do for free). That's literally the most difficult thing. Everything else you simply slot in.

No idea. The computer I built was years ago and I'm not up to speed.

Maybe, depending on the quality of the components. Lenovo doesn't exactly have the best reputation these days.

It's also nice to know if it's upgradeable or not. Getting a new video card in a couple of years can extend the life of a system instead of getting a whole new rig.

I started myself with no clue what I was doing, but just a little bit of googling and reading relevant subreddits I learned everything and more about putting together a PC. I put together a small list of the parts I needed, a basic case and some tools and went to memory express and they set me up and looked over my build and made recommendations of what could be better or cheaper.

Genuinely a fun and rewarding experience, and if you're not comfortable physically building it yourself memory express can do it for I think $50. You'll save hundreds compared to pre-built PCs

Yeah OP, I would recommend checking out PC Part Picker. Just enable the compatibility filter so you know the parts will work together, and it's incredibly easy to start picking your components. They also have recommended builds for different price ranges if you want to start with one of those and then tweak it.

Are you guys buying the parts from the various vendors, or bringing the prices from ppp, and having your local retailer price match? (MemEx for example)
