The Flames heartbreaking playoff failures from 90 to 94. The Stampeders juggernauts that lost from 93 to 97. I'm sure there is a whole generation of Calgary fans that have been hardened by those years of defeats...

Back to back Grey Cup losses in 16 and 17? First round flames outs in 17 and 19? Just a drop in the bucket if you've been around long enough (actually, last year's playoff loss to Colorado cut pretty deep -- took awhile to recover from that one )

At least the Flames have the excuse of being in a league of 20+ teams where your odds of winning are significantly lower. You have to admit it's astonishing that the Stamps have only won 6 Grey Cups over the past 30 years in a 8/9 team league where they have fielded several of the all-time great regular season teams. Edmonton fans like to talk about some of the 70's and 80's but their regular season dominance isn't remotely close to the Stamps since the early 90's.

Indeed. And I grew up with a diehard Eskimos fan step father too, so those gut wrenching choke jobs my little kid self wasn't mature enough to even handle yet were made all the worse by my dad's gleeful belly laughs next to me when it happened. The '94 Darren Flutie TD final play one actually brought Lil' Sainters to tears, and my mom locked him out of their room that night afterwards because she thought he acted way too overtly happy about it in front of me while I cried lol..t'was a hard knock playoff life for me growing up in that house thanks to early 90s Calgary sports choke jobs

Anyhoo, Stamps sign Receiver James Quick.

After two seasons away from the sport, he returned to the field in 2019 with the Alliance of American Football’s Atlanta Legends in 2019. He played six games for Atlanta and had 10 catches for 98 yards, one carry for five yards and four punt returns for 37 yards.

In college, Quick played four seasons at Louisville and had 126 career catches for 2,032 yards and 14 touchdowns. Quick also had three carries for 17 yards and returned 20 punts for 148 yards and eight kickoffs for 156 yards. During his senior season, he earned third-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference honours after posting career highs in catches (45), yards (769) and touchdowns (six).

Ambrosie favors eliminating a single point on missed field goals going through the end zone .

Quote:
DON’T MESS WITH OUR ROUGE:#On ‘Randy’s Road Trip’, Randy Ambrosie is pushing the idea of missed field goals sailing out the back of the end zone not counting for a single point. Can anyone remember a game where this determined the outcome? Talk about solving a non-existent problem!

Good. Awarding a point on a missed FG has always been dumb. The reality is that any returner would gladly run the ball out of the end zone if he can as missed FG's make for the easiest big play returns but there's little they can do if the ball is kicked out of the end zone or too deep to be able to return it out.

I like the rouge in its different forms. It adds some excitement and a strategic aspect to this unique game of CFL football.

Yeah keep the rouge as is. There have been games when it's made a difference, and a while back, some team kicked it intentionally out the side of the endzone for a win. Punt was less accurate and FG was long, so it just got over the line to the side.
Part of the fun.

Ambroise should worry about rescheduling his Mexcian and German combines and whatever other ambitious ideas he seems to have to save football.

The point isn’t for missing the FG. It is an award for field position.

Rule definitely needs to be modified. Simple change so that a team can concede a single but that’s the only way it occurs. Nothing for a missed kick that goes through the end zone or out the side. Same with a punt that goes into the end zone. Basically the defensive team is trading a point for field position.

For anyone craving Stamps coverage in this period of isolation ESPN Classic (951 on Telus) is showing the 2008 Grey Cup from 19:00 to 21:00 tonight!

If the CFL season gets delayed, one option they are considering is an 8 game regular season starting on Labor Day: https://www.tsn.ca/cfl-weighing-opti...d-19-1.1460628

The
@CFL
will announce today that it is postponing the opening of training camps indefinitely. Main camps were to open May 17th, rookie camps as early as May 11th. #CFL
