Kings @ Flames. 7pm MT SNW
Go Flames Go.
Doesn't look like just recalled Mangiapane will play tonight.
Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
#Flames lines look like Lomberg is in on the fourth line. Mangiapane is playing D, just for subbing purposes with Dalton Prout.
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Projected #Flames tonight vs. LA:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Bennett
Neal-Ryan-Czarnik
Lomberg-Jankowski-Hathaway
Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Kylington-Andersson
Smith

Seven Things to Watch for Tonight
- Sean Monahan is one point from tying Craig Conroy and becoming 20th in all time points as a Flame.
- T.J. Brodie is one point from tying Bill Clement and becoming 38th in all time points as a Flame
- Mike Smith is one win from tying Dwayne Roloson and Gerry Cheevers becoming 69th all time in NHL wins as a goalie.
- Garnet Hathaway the pure sniper is one point from tying Tom Kostopoulos, Steve Begin, Adam Pardy and Dan Keczmer. His next point will be number 26 as a Flame.
- Matthew Tkachuk is one goal from tying Phil Housley. Tkachuk will get to 50 in nearly half as many games.
- Johnny Gaudreau is one assist from tying Craig Conroy and becoming 17th all time as a Flame. To put that in perspective Johnny Hockey has played 170 fewer games.
- T.J. Brodie will tie Paul Reinhart in Games played for the Flames. Brodie will become 16th all time.

Looking for a bounce back game for the top line tonight, specifically Monahan. Gaudreau looked sluggish vs the Stars but Monahan was ugly. Fought the puck all night. Rare for him so expecting a big game from the main trio.
Hoping Jankowski continues his streak, playing some good hockey lately. An expanded role should happen if he keeps it up.
Smith at starting at home generally isn't the best idea but another potential confidence builder vs a lowly Kings team. Rittich has been good not great his last two so Smith finding any sort of decent game is a bonus.

Ugh facing another team that was beaten by the oilers the night before hope they actually come out to play tonight because the kings are going to be pissed

They can be pissed all they want. They aren't as good as the Stars, and I doubt they play Quick BTB like the Stars did with Khudobin. And if the Flames play even a little better than last game, they handle the Kings easily. If they play at or near their best, they thump them good.
I'm looking forward to Tkachuk and Doughty.

Kings didn't look good last night but neither did the Stars. Thats the Oiler effect. Slow, play for the tie style of play. Flames hopefully learned a lesson the other night and I'm sure Peters has been on them about it.

The Flames did not lose to the Stars because the Stars were "pissed." The Flames lost to the Stars because they were awful. Calgary is a much better team than they showed on Wednesday night, and I expect to see that today.
GFG.

Coach Peters confirms Lomberg in tonight. Mangiapane won’t play. #Flames
Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
Bill Peters confirms that Ryan Lomberg, not Andrew Mangiapane, will play with Mark Jankowski and Garnet Hathaway vs. #Kings tonight. #Flames Head Coach might reunite old @AHLHeat line of Mangiapane-Jankowski-Hathaway down (or on) the road. #LAKvsCGY

Flames are only 5-4 against the Pacific. Need to beat teams like LA to stay on top.

Interesting. On a somewhat related note, I have never been much of a fan of Hathaway, and have always considered him a career minor-leaguer and a replacement player. I have to say he has really impressed me the past couple of weeks. That would be something if he actually turns into an NHLer for this team.

Makes sense Lombergs been practicing with the team the last few days and is probably more prepared to jump in then Mangiapane

I always like going back and looking at the CP Prospect Ranking.
Playing tonight from that list:
2. Rasmus Andersson
6. Oliver Kylington
23. Ryan Lomberg
Those who have played this season:
1. Juuso Valimaki
3. Dillan Dube
Those who have been called up:
5. Andrew Mangiapane
Those who have been traded:
10. Morgan Klimchuk
16. Hunter Shinkaruk

I’m fine with sending Dube down but replacing him with Ryan Lomberg makes us worse. At least give Mangiapane his spot. That’s at worst a lateral move.

Who will Lomberg fight: Doughty (Lomberg wins), Phaneuf (Lomberg wins), Clifford (Clifford wins, but doesn't knock him silly).

I am sure that is the plan but the team wants Mangiapane to get some practice in first. For one game this is an entirely justifiable decision.
(...besides, I am fairly sure the Lomberg/Mangiapane decision is part of a Machiavellian plot to distract the fanbase from noticing that Mike Smith is playing this game.)

But Lomberg has more NHL points in fewer games.

I don't think Lomberg wins any of those fights but he will probably still throw fists like a madman

C'mon, let the guy have a practice with the team first.
Either guy is gonna play 5 minutes. Lomberg might bring a bunch of energy, which the Flames lacked last game.
Lomberg also shows no respect to NHL vets which will drive a guy like Doughty nuts.
