Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
Sean Monahan missing from #Flames practice. He blocked a Colin Wilson shot on Saturday.

Hopefully his ankle is ok, he looked off at times in the game. Considering he played in the OT I would think it's just a rest day.

He played the rest of that game including OT with Gaudreau for as brief as that was. Probably fine. Just bruised and resting would be my guess.

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Backlund just had a conversation with #Flames trainer Mike Gudmundson and departed the ice.

risten Anderson @KdotAnderson
#Flames haven't done any drills with their lines pairings yet. A pretty intense practice today. Lots of one-on-ones and two-on-twos with a forechecker, etc.

I suppose, IF Monahan was ever to miss a game, Elias Lindholm could become #1 centre by default.

I'm definitely thinking Bennett will be getting a chance on PP #2 here soon.

It's a good thing they don't travel and don't play again until Wednesday.

Even if Backlund and Monahan were missing...

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Bennett - Dube - Neal
Frolik - Jankowski - Czarnik
Hathaway - Ryan - Peluso

Isn’t terrible. Obviously we are a worse team without our top two centers, but this is the first time in a very long time that we could most likely hold our own still without them.

Hopefully they’re okay and they’re just super minor.

Sounds like he skated by himself before practice today.

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Peters running a lot of "thinking" drills today. At least that's what they look like. He has to explain every one of them, like, twice.

Looks like we'll get:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Bennett - Backlund - Neal
Tkachuk - Ryan - Frolik
Jankowski/Hathaway - Dube - Czarnik

The Jankowski/Hathaway/Frolik battle for 2 spots should be interesting!

Love that Bennett - Backlund - Neal looks like it could be kept together to start the next game!

So I take it Peluso is a placeholder for Backlund, so he'll 100% be back for next game. But does that mean Jankowski's also a healthy scratch and holding Monahan's place, or Monahan's out and Jankowski's getting a shot on the top line? Seems more likely he's just holding a spot, but I'm not sure I agree with scatching Janko right away again.

I don't think you can read anything into today's lines given they were down one centre to start and the other left before it was over. With 2 more days until the game, tomorrow might be more telling.
