Yeah, just throw them in. I would do Brodie and Gillies but once you're "throwing in" fox/kylington I don't do the deal. Gallagher is a heart and soul player but he is not amazing offensively (productive, but not really a fix). If we're adding on to Brodie and Gillies, a guy like Klimchuk is a better guy to add

These offers for Gallagher are right out to lunch IMO.
Is he really that good?
Brodie has some warts but I wouldn't trade him for Gallagher straight up.

No thanks to Gallagher. Just not enough offense. That's what the Flames need.
I'm not high on Brodie, but I also wouldn't trade him for Gallagher

I do Brodie for Gallagher straight up in a heartbeat - Tkachuk playing with Gallagher would be an absolute nightmare for the opposition IMO. It’s a need for a need type trade IMO and honestly if anyone adds it would be maybe be Montreal thought that is debatable...
Brodie
Gillies
Gallagher
Byron

Gallagher is the kind of player fans think more of when he's on the other team. He works hard, has grit, etc. In Calgary fans would soon say "we signed this guy, where are the goals?"

I can see the need for Gallagher but you're telling me he is worth giving up a top 4 D and a decent goalie prospect for? If Brodie and Gillies are going back it better be Galchenyuk coming back not Gallagher.

May be hot and cold but the guy is on pace for 30G this season. As it stands he would be 3rd on the flames for goals.

He has 18 this year. On pace for a career year though. His totals/projections are typically in the low 20s. He's right handed, Pisses teams off, bulldog mentality. If he's just a 20 goal scorer, that's still a mighty fine package. But if he starts putting up 25-30 plus like it seems he'll do this year, that's worth Brodie plus, IMO.
Health record has not been great though.

I'd take Gallagher all day over galchenyuk. Not even really close in my mind.

i like Gallager and think he would bring another dimension to the team, including some additional scoring to the bottom six...
while i agree Brodie seems like a tad much, but i don't think its a massive overpayment... maybe if MTL added apick coming back?
D is an organizational position of strength, so it makes sense to deal a dman... i don't think we have any forwards that we'd want to deal and we are dry wrt draft picks with the hamonic deal

Brodie for Hoffman. That's the deal Treliving should be sniffing around. Stay away from anything from Montreal.

If we are trading Brodie to the Habs for a winger it better be Galchenyuk or Pacioretty (not to stoked on Patches though with only a year left on his deal).

Hoffman is older, more expensive, left handed, has scored fewer goals this year (by a wide margined) and doesn't have the same dogged qualities as Gallagher. I don't think the org would covet him as much.
Can anyone who watches lots of Ottawa games comment on Hoffman when he's not scoring? Good defensively? Hard on pucks? Engaged? Wins lots of puck battles?

Brodie’s career high in points is only two fewer than Gallagher’s
No chance on that deal. Gallagher is a great player though, I’d love to see him play for the Flames

FWIW Friedman said on Edmonton radio yesterday that it is starting to look unlikely that the Sens will move Hoffman.
They will likely move Pageau and/or Smith.

This is the kind of deal Treliving is going to have to make. The problem with most trade proposals is everyone wants something for nothing. Everyone is terrified of “losing the trade.”
David Poile moved Weber for Subban and Jones for Johansson. Those are huge trades that took a lot of balls to make.
Brodie for Hoffman would be a huge hockey trade. That’s the kind of deal we have to make in order to find some offense.

So what's a realistic ask for Gallagher? In my original post, I said I didn't think Brodie was a fit (although I'd probably do it).

The Flames don’t have the right pieces IMO
Probably something like Valimaki+C level prospect/4th liner/late pick but I don’t think Bergeron would go for that
Byron would be my target from the habs. Perfect third liner and he probably won’t take a premium asset to get.

i have been sort of hoping for Pageau to be honest.
deals bandied about like Hoffman or (ugh) Kane, would require some major packages to pry them loose...
Pageau is an interesting player to me as he is very fast, and has some skill, albeit streaky....and he wouldn't cost that much (i think) much prefer him over ZSmith.

Not sure why Pageau would be a good fit. He is a smallish forward with underwhelming offence. Is there something im missing?
