PHI has asked for and received permission from ANA to talk to Dave Nonis about the Flyers GM job. Chuck Fletcher and Bill Zito are the other candidates, to this point.
they should just hire the potato instead. Less damage long-term.

Does Chris Pronger count? I read he is likely to get a call from Holmgren as well.

Boy Fletcher and Nonis are extremely underwhelming candidates.

Are there no young and upcoming GM's? When the Flames were doing the search lots of young potential candidates came up.

I think of him hiring the godfather of his son to coach. Especially considering the previous GM had just hired his brother.

you need permission to talk to those. I imagine teams don't really want to let their AGMs leave during the season.

Yeah, especially because there is lots of draft planning that happens all the time, most teams wouldnt be too thrilled to lose an AGM mid-season.

Honestly, this was stupid on the Flyers, they should have let him finish the season out unless he was going to do something insane, which, ironically, seems like his mandate.

Hextall was patient and staying the course but other management got impatient and wants to speed things up which is usually when things go wrong.

One of my favourite articles. Nonis vs a potato for the GM job.
