Seriously, we use inhg for pressure but weather charts are in hpa?
Is it just a goal in aviation to use every unit? May as well read IAS in kilomomiles per inch litre. Wait there's probably a vspeed for that

Boeing 737 Max 9... If the MCAS don't kill ya, an explosive decompression from a window blowout will.
What a POS plane. People think I'm weird, but I actively avoid booking flights with airlines that predominantly fly 737s.

That’s not a good look for Boeing.
Not a good week for aviation. If things do come in threes we could have another incident shortly.

Interesting that it wasn't simply a window, but a plugged door that went. Apparently that door is put there in manufacturing for operators that put more seats in the plane, and thus need an extra emergency door. Not required for the passenger load Alaska configures the MAX 9 for.

Aircraft was barely two months old.
People are freaking out here in Seattle.
50% of movements are AA.

Alaska has grounded their Max 9 fleet (65 aircraft) while they check them. Wonder in United will do the same, they have the largest fleet. Apparently this aircraft had experienced pressurization issues a few days ago and was removed from ETOPS operations in the meantime.
Very fortunate this incident happened on climb out and they were only at 16000 feet.

Also of note is that Boeing sub contracts out manufacturing of the 737 fuselage to Spirit Aerosystems. But whether the door plugs are done there or by Boeing in Renton I am not sure. Not that it matters.
Side note, I was fortunate enough to tour the 737 facility in Renton a number of years ago (pre Max). The Boeing dude told us the only component of the aircraft that Boeing actually manufactures themselves is the wing. Everything else from avionics to engines to interiors to fuselage etc. is all subcontracted and Renton is essentially just an assembly facility. Not unlike auto manufacturing in a lot of ways but I was surprised at how little of the aircraft components Boeing actually makes themselves.

They do not. Air Canada doesn't either. Both loaded up on MAX 8s.

And that no one was sitting in the seat that got sucked out of the aircraft.

WestJet does have an order for the MAX 10's. That version is still undergoing certification.
