Why would it eliminate the cross over? They can keep it.

Halifax has a metro area population of over 400,000.

Another 250,000 estimated population within 150 km.

About 800,000 estimated within 150 km of Moncton.

Yeah....all of Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary and Edmonton had CFL teams for many years when their populations were sub 600,000.

I suppose there's the chance that like in Saskatchewan they draw from all over the area but it feels like a reach to me.
I read someone who wants expansion to add three more cities - something like Halifax, Saskatoon and Victoria. That’s a really bad idea.

I think the next targets should be Quebec City and London. Maybe later the Okanagan region (population 362,258 + 100,000 Kamloops CA).

Compare the attendance of the Halifax Mooseheads and Regina Pats:

http://halifaxmooseheads.ca/attendance

http://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attendan...h.php?tmi=7654

Halifax is between 7000 and 8000 last 5 years. Regina 4000 to 6000.

The CFL cant expand that much for a few reasons.

Firstly the non-import rule. There just isnt enough quality Canadian talent to fill 3 or 4 more teams.

Also with the emergence of 2 more pro American leagues, the talent pool will be drastically reduced from that side of the border as well as guys stay home to make (im assuming) at least as much if not more money.

One team here can be handled fairly comfortably, but beyond that you are really looking at hurting your product quality.

Ya I think Halifax is the last expansion for a while. 10 teams, even schedule, 5 teams per division with 60% of the league making the playoffs. It's good balance.

I am really hoping that they would take this opportunity to truly balance the schedule.

A simple Round Robin schedule home and away.

1 division, 10 teams, 18 games. Top 6 make playoffs.

Otherwise, you wouldn't get to see/travel to each team without adding games (which I cant imagine).

I told an acquaintance of mine what I had done, he said "are you crazy, Halifax is like 4000 miles away?!?". Then he proceeded to tell me that he and his brother had done the same thing. It's definitely going to be interesting.

Haha kind of, but what was it 3 to 4(?) years ago all of the East couldn't win more than 2 games for the longest time. They were all pitiful and yet two made the playoffs. Actually was that the year Ottawa beat us in the grey cup?

Having a 10th team and making this a truly coast-to-coast league could increase interest across the league. I have a feeling that the perception of the league would grow a little and more people would tune in to see this brand new team. This could be a Saskatchewan situation waiting to happen!

Missing the game tomorrow because I'll be standing in a wedding. In a way it will be nice to have the distraction and not have the nerves of a Bomber playoff game that come with it. I really do feel like the Bombers have everything going for them except home field. This team is imo the most balance team in the league and can win the title this year. I really want this tomorrow; I can't fathom my disappointment if they blow this to the Riders. God.

You don’t need to watch. Games over already. As I suspected Collaros is done. Brandon Bridge does not have what it takes to win. Unless Riders’ D singlehandedly wins the game, Bombers are coming to Calgary.

Weird goings on with the Riders depth chard

With Collaros out they need to adjust their QB slot, but if you look at their defense they're loading up on defensive linemen, but if you look at their secondary no backups are dressing, and those linebackers aren't good enough to drop back to the secondary. So if a DB gets hurt do they move a receiver back there?

Its pretty clear that jones expects the Bombers to go run heavy tomorrow. But its a weird depth chart.

I also didn't hear about Mason going down with an injury which leaves Marshall as the main ball carrier. Evans was their top receiver and he's out as well. There's just not a lot of offensive fire power in that Riders lineup at all.

Winnipeg should win this game as long as they limit turnovers.

Collaros vs Bombers this year has been awful. Bridge may provide a spark the Riders need to win.

Bridge is terrible, and he's played very little this year.

I refuse to take anything for granted or think this in the bag. The Bombers have been breaking my heart for 30 years.
