James Webb served from 1961-1968, as wrong as it was homophobia was a normal popular sentiment in the 60's-70's. to go back 60 years and punish his family and legacy for this is ridiculous IMO.
Remember Archie Bunker? All in the Family was one of the most popular sitcoms in history, should Norman Lear be stripped of his 5 emmys, his HOF honor? should Carroll O'Connor be stripped of his 5 emmys and 2 golden globes?
This new wave of social activism is out of hand.
Just call it the Gay Telescope. Everybody wins!

James Webb telescope has already been hit by one micrometeoroid.
Not a positive sign for the longevity of the telescope.
The article says it's the 5th time since launch it's been hit. It's expected and they accounted for it. The only difference here is that this one was a bit larger than expected, but they can still adjust for it.

Article says they planned for stuff like this and are able to compensate for when it occurs. Systems are still well above normal ranges, so not worried about it at all. After reading that article I feel even better about this incident then before.
Have there been any updates on when we can expect images?
July 12th for the first colors
Quote:
NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) will jointly release the James Webb Space Telescope’s first full-color images and spectroscopic data during a live broadcast on July 12 at 10:40 AM EDT. The photos will not be available to anyone prior to the live unveiling, allowing the entire world to enjoy the photos together unspoiled.
NASA members who've already caught a glimpse of JWST's true first light said they were absolutely blown away and moved to tears. "What I have seen moved me, as a scientist, as an engineer and as a human being,"
