With that said, travelling with the team would be a huge perk of the job. I would be pissy, too, if I lost that perk.

Searched "Boomer and warrener" on the sportsnet sit and trawled through a bit to find this clip. It's mostly just whole podcasts or hourly segments that are up there

Yes, it could be done in a studio but for the integrity of the broadcast, it shouldn’t be done that way.

I noticed a handful of times Rick Ball miscall things or miss things altogether this past season and it was because he can only call what he sees on the monitor. You miss things, you don’t have a feel for the energy in the arena, it’s a lesser broadcast. Some will notice, some won’t.

But travel costs add up and bean counters at Rogers or Bell will always look for ways to slash. I get why it’s done, but it just sucks for the viewer.

I hate the fact I'll have to listen to Vancouver radio for sports.
It's the lesser evil than having to listen to Toronto radio.

Might I suggest listening to TSN1200 based in Ottawa. The morning show is pretty decent as they have John Rodenburg (Kirsch equivalent in terms of position) who’s actually a Flames fan and Shawn Simpson who was the WJ Canadian goalie in 1987 for the punch up in Piestany.

Is Merik still being broadcast at 10? I can tolerate his show. I’ll still listen to Pat until the station goes down

Well the Canucks have renewed its radio rights with the SN650.

"It’s expected the fee paid by Rogers for this season will be far below what the rights have gone for in the past, chiefly because of the decline in prominence of AM radio."
