Only heard about the one Heat preseason game. Is this preseason hockey or is this the regular season?

If Duehr ends up playing today, tough to see him getting called up to dress for the game tomorrow.

Yup. Be on the lookout for any unexpected forwards not dressed for the game. If there are, it's a likely indication of a call-up tomorrow morning.

Can someone help me understand why there are five goalies on tonight’s roster?

The Heat usually carry a few goalies, although I expect we'll see at least one go down to Kansas City when the ECHL season starts.
I'm covering this game over at FlamesNation here's the game preview and here's my projected Heat lineup:
Martin Pospisil Adam Ruzicka Matthew Phillips
Jakob Pelletier Luke Philp Walker Duehr
Justin Kirkland Byron Froese Emilio Pettersen
Dmitry Zavgorodniy Mark Simpson Ryan Francis
Connor Mackey Andy Welinski
Kevin Gravel Ilya Solovyov
Yan Kuznetsov Nick DeSimone
Adam Werner
Dustin Wolf

"You can never have enough goalies" might have been taken a little too far.

CF has him on the roster on "season opening injured reserve". I suspect you can't send down an injured guy.

Yes he's currently listed as injured non-roster with the Flames and will be assigned to STK when healthy

Sure great to see so many interesting players with the team's AHL club.
I count 14 that are at least on the radar.

Man, this looks like one of the best line-ups in years!! When Zary joins, I imagine this will be a very difficult team to beat if they aren't already.
I also can't remember if I've ever seen that many goalies on an opening night roster.

Yup, if Zary is in that lineup that's a very good roster. Maybe needs a bit more help on defense, but the goaltending looks really good, and the forwards are skilled and versatile. Pretty nice to see a good farm club for once.

All I can get

Shortridge and Greenfield likely ticketed for Kansas City, and I can see Wolf or Chechelev getting some games in the E from time to time.
Something's got to give with the Parsons situation.

The Heat have 22 back to back games. Nearly all of those are also 3 games in 4 nights. Its a crazy heavy schedule that will need more than 2 goalies and lots of skaters
