Default Day 1 (PM of July 23 - AM of July 24)

I think I've got captured most of the Canadian content for tonight. As always all events are available to be streamed on the CBC Olympics website, CBC Gem, and the CBC Olympics App.

At 17:00 the Repechage rounds begin for the Women’s and Men’s Single sculls events. At 17:30 qualification begins in Women’s 10m Air Rifle. Mixed Doubles, and Women’s Doubles, and Women’s Singles in Badminton begins at 18:00 as well as the Women’s Individual Epee fencing event. Beach volleyball, Table Tennis, and Handball will also begin at 18:00.

At 18:00 Canada takes on Italy in Group A action in Men’s Volleyball. Albertans Graham Vigrass, Blair Bann, Jay Blankenau, and Lucas Van Berkel will try and improve on Canada’s 5th place result in Rio. It seems like this will be shown on TSN.

In Heat 1 of the Women’s Pair Rowing Canada’s Caileigh Filmer and Hillary Janssens will compete at 18:20. Heat 3 of the Men’s Pair Rowing at 19:10 sees 2012 Silver Medalist Conlin McCAbe and second generation Olympian Kai Langerfield will compete for Canada.

At 19:00 Canada (1-1) takes on Australia (1-1) in Softball. This should be live on TSN2.

Also at 19:00 the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Qualification begins. Canada’s Rene Cournoyer will be in Subdivision 2 which will begin at 23:30.

At 19:14 Women’s Flyweight gets underway in Taekwondo. Canada’s Yvette Yong will take on a Vietnamese athlete at 20:10.

The Lightweight Double Sculls begins at 19:20. Canada’s Jill Moffatt and Jennifer Casson will be in Heat 2 which should be at 19:30. In Heat 3 of the Men’s Event Patrick Keane and Maxwell Lattimer row for Canada at 20:10.

Tennis begins at 20:00, Canada’s Gabriele Dabrowski and Sharon Fichman compete in Women’s Doubles. Leylah Fernandez participates in Women’s Singles. Both of these matches should be beginning right at 20:00. I believe this will be on TSN 1, 3, or 4.

Cycling starts with the Men’s Road Race and will beginning at 20:00. Guillaume Boivin, Hugo Houle, and Michael Woods compete for Canada. I believe that this will be on Sportsnet1.

Eugene Wang and Mo Zhang will begin their Mixed Doubles Tennis Table campaign at 20:15.

The Rowing 4 – Women’s event starts at 20:20, Canada will be in Heat 1. Canada’s Mens team will compete at 20:50.

At 21:00 Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes will compete in their first match in Women’s Beach Volleyball against a pair from the Netherlands. Pavan and Humana-Paredes won Gold at the 2019 FIVB World Championships and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This should be shown live on CBC.

Canada competes in Heat 1 of the Women’s 8 Rowing Event at 21:20.

Canada’s Shaul Gordon competes in the Round of 32 in the Men’s Sabre Fencing event at 21:45

At 22:54 Wyatt Sanford competes in Welterweight in Men’s Boxing, against an athlete from Mauritius. I think that boxing will be available on one of the TSN channels.

At 23:15 the Men’s Singles in Table Tennis begins, Canada’s Jeremy Hazin is scheduled to compete at 00:45.

At 23:30 USA (2-0) takes on Mexico (0-2) in Softball.

At 00:20 Canada’s Women’s Water Polo team takes on Australia. It seems like this will be on TSN1.

CANWNT takes on Chile at 01:30 at the Sapporo Dome in Group E action and it should be shown live on CBC. Canada drew in their first match while the Chilean team dropped their opening result to Great Britain. The other Group E match will see Great Britain face Japan at 04:30.

Equestrian – Dressage Individual begins at 02:00.

Jason Ho-Shue and Nyl Yakura are slated to compete in Men’s Doubles – Badminton at 03:00. 03:40 should see Rachel Honderich and Kristen Tsai competing in Women’s Doubles in Badminton, also at this time Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Josephine Wu should be competing in the Mixed Doubles event.

At 04:00 the Canadian Men’s Field Hockey Team takes on Germany.

Swimming gets underway at 04:00 with the Men’s 400m Individual Medley, I believe that swimming events will be shown live on CBC. The Women’s 100m Butterfly begins at 4:25, Canadians Katerine Savard (2016 Freestyle Relay Bronze Medal Winner) and Margaret MacNeil (2019 World Champion in this event) swim in Heat 3. Men’s 400m Freestyle begins at 04:38.

Canada’s Jeremy Hazin competes at 04:30 in Men’s Singles Tennis Table against a Slovenian athlete.

At 05:05 the Women’s 400 Individual Medley begins. Sydney Pickrem (2019 4th place finisher in this event at the 2019 FINA World Championships) and Tessa Cieplucha (2019 Pan Am Gold Medalist in this event) will swim in Heat 2.

The Men’s 100m Breastroke begins at 05:25, Gabe Mastromatteo swims in Heat 3. The Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay begins at 05:43, Canada will compete in Heat 2.

At 05:00 Canada’s Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson will compete in Beach Volleyball against a pair of athletes from China. It seems like this will be covered on CBC and Sportsnet.

Moffatt and Casson have advanced to the Semifinals in Lightweight Double Sculls, pretty good games so far for Canadian rowers.

Feel like Ive never actually watched softball before - Canada vs Oz right now. Do they always play on a half field? Seems so odd having a full sized diamond but they've got the bases in position for U5 tee-ball....

Ya, softball is a smaller diamond. They have it set up that way because it will be the same stadium for the baseball tournament starting later in the games.

This is a real low camera angle for tennis on TSN4.

Fernandez rolling in the third set.

Would love for Medvedev to lose here, if it goes to a 3rd set I think the heat will keep bothering him a lot
