Do you re-locate / close off ducts ??

I am doing a kitchen reno and the finished product will require moving a few ducts to new exterior walls.

Yes sir...we do for sure. Call my technician Kyle at Chestemere heating 403-272-9976 he can help you.

We do full sheet metal fabrication....and are damn good at it.

So I'm hearing that the 3M furnace filters I've been buying for years are bad for your furnace.

Any suggestions on a brand of filters you would recommend instead?

^Buy the cheap, no name ones at Lowes/Rona/HD. Avoid 3M

Fiberglass disposable filters only.

Woven, pleated, 3m, Kirkland filters , reusable filters burn out......
- inducer motors
- direct drive motor
- ECM motor
- High limit sensors
-cause freezing of air conditioning coils
- lengthen heating and cooling cycles by 18-30%
-overheating and condensate leak issues from high efficiency furnaces

Mid October to end of October now for appointments.

Greatly appreciate all of the continued support of my little business in almost my 9th year working for me (good) rather than working for evil ( someone else) after nearly 30 years in this industry.

Thanks again CP. Without CP it wouldn't have EVER happened.

I have a quote of 255 / ea for a relocate of approx 4 feet total.

2 ducts.

Not from your guy.

Does that seem reasonable ?

Hi
No. But it's also not up to me as my sheet metal department makes everything custom to fit your needs .

What i will tell you is we aren't opportunists and don't take advantage of people with huge markup because we're smaller and don't justify a darn thing like our competitors.
We've also been doing it way longer than anyone which explains our reputation within our market, communities as well.

Lastly....we don't do bandaid fixes just to make money. If we see something wrong from the furnace out we fix it.

We always do more than is asked . We are in this for the long run.
We're like a good friend in that regard . Good friends don't let good friends buy crap.

Is there a recommended number of heat registers per square footage requirement ?

I am opening up my kitchen area and was wondering if I can close off a heat register because its location is now in the middle of the room as opposed to where the interior wall used to be.

I am opening up a porch area and the wall separating my kitchen and dining areas.

The far left register (red rectangle) is under a window and stays...

Blue is the walls that have been removed.

The other two are up for re-location if needed.

Thoughts ??

Hi
So typically a 8 by 6 space will need at least 1 hot vent .
Larger areas will need a hot and an intake minimum.

But....if this area as an open area I'd leave them all except for the one and you should be fine.

Does this advice hold true for the deeper 4" and 5" filters Keith? (say, a 16x25x4?)
