It should be a fun game for neutrals, I think in terms of entertainment it's always been one of the best derbies in that regard
Both have to play for 3 points

Yeah. It hasn't been great.

good stuff. Apparently they want close to £20m for a bloody sporting director, but I guess that's what a hurt ego will do to an oil club.
https://twitter.com/user/status/1783547858827805007
hope there'll be a swift resolution to this so that the new trio of Berrada (CEO), Ashworth (sporting director) and Wilcox (technical director) is in place as soon as possible. Wilcox has already started after they agreed compensation with Southampton, Berrada is on gardening leave until June I believe.

I get sticking to your principles and all that, but Brighton playing out from the back and playing a high line against City is pretty much suicide.

The Premier League's CEO Richard Masters said on Friday that the hearing over Manchester City's 115 alleged finance breaches will take place in the "near future."
Asked about the fairness of City winning the league with the 115 charges still outstanding at a European Leagues' online news conference on Friday, Masters said: "We can't comment on the case, the date is set. The case will resolve itself at some point in the near future. I can't make any further comment on it."

Guessing Newcastle doesn't want Man U to have access to their scouting prioritization list before or during the window. As much as I dislike their ownership right now, that's totally fair - I don't think money can solve that problem but maybe if he can be allowed to go just after the window shuts that is fair middle ground
Manchester United's existing scouting is a dog's breakfast the last few years and that's putting it kindly and poaching knowledge from a team that's been buying well would be a huge competitive advantage, never mind that they could get in earlier or outbid the Magpies on the players they want

that's all fair and makes sense, but two years gardening leave and 20m compensation to release him earlier doesn't IMO.

Sorry, is this a British term? What is 'Gardening Leave?'

I totally agree 2 years is excessive. Has to be some middle ground there.
Totally different topic but man I wish the prem would embrace a friday night game, it would do so well viewership wise and be such a fun way to start the weekend off. Can't get the one championship game as I'm not willing to pay for Fubo and DAZN because I'd have that on in the background with Leeds right in that promotion race.

Also I didn't see this here, but the club are voting on a spending or salary cap on Monday. I think it's not bigger news as it's so loose/high, but would be limited to 5x the broadcast and commercial revenue paid by the EPL to the lowest earner.... about 500mil.
Probably only material to City at this point but kind of nice to see the other clubs finally rallying together even if only to make some minor stand.

yeah it's a British term. It means you have to wait for a period of time before you can start working for your new employer. You're paid by your prior employer to, well, sit around and tend to your garden.

Huh. We have similar clauses here but I'd never heard that term before.
Cool.

In the Championship, Leeds somehow lose 4-0 to QPR and that means Leicester are back in the PL. Also means that Ipswich holds all the cards for the second promotion spot ... they trail Leeds by a point, but have 3 games left whereas Leeds only has one more.

Liverpool continues to choke in the title race. To me it’s between Arsenal and MC and it’s been like that for a while now.

I believe in the Jays.

That was a very strange scenario towards the end of the game there. Areola put that ball down when it was still live, and then the ref blows the play dead when Gakpo steals it. Unless I missed something?

Scoring Winger
|
The referee waved play on, then Areola dropped the ball in front of him thinking it was a free kick. Gakpo recognized Areola's error, but the referee blew the play dead as he realized what was about to happen. Gakpo would have scored easily, but not really in the spirit of the game.

Yeah think there was a foul but Areola had the ball so ref played advantage since it looked like nothing would come of it.
But in the end Areola thought their was a foul, and was clearly playing that as a free kick.
