Icon48 The Nagano Tapes - Great documentary about the Czech Olympic Gold

https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/pl...e-rings-films/

Interviews with virtually everybody involved, great production, and lots of behind the scenes footage (like Fleury and his family reacting to his pick for the Olympic team). Explores the Czechoslovakian split, the European invasion in the NHL, and the Nagano Olympics.

Petr Svoboda, Hasek, Fleury, Bob McKenzie, Jagr, Brett Hull, etc.

Note: I had to manually choose for English CC for some Czech speech that wasn't translated.

What I remember about the 1998 games is Joe Nieuwendyk being interviewed in Dutch by Dutch tv.

I had forgotten that the Czechs were a disaster in the 96 World Cup. Didn't even qualify to come to Canada!

Having Hasek and Jagr on the same team in 1998 is pretty much unfair

If Lemieux wasnt being a baby Canada likely wins 96 and 98. Big asterisk on those two tournaments IMO.

I just watched this tonight. Unbelievable job done. It's a good summer documentary.

Yup. By far the two biggest Czech stars ever in their prime.

So not only do I disagree with you (particularly about 96), but... really? A baby? Is this green text?

Wasn't Lemieux retired in '98??

TIL being retired makes you a baby

God, the one goal that Jagr scores against the States in the QF's. Walks out from the side wall, right in the slot and buries it.

Don't forget Robert Reichel who, in his prime, was the best breakaway player I've ever seen.

Robert Reichel ruined my childhood. He had the whole ####ing net to shoot at and he shot it right into Kirk McLean's pads.

You don't win gold with Rob Zamner on your team.
