I'm in favour. Freedom of choice and all that.

Yeah, why not. There's no honour in suffering to death if you want to just go.

Anyone have that sign about anti-assisted suicide? The one about dying with dignity and pain? It was absolutely horrible.

After seeing my grandfather slowly waste away with an incurable brain tumour, I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone, and I certainly hope that I'll have the option to end my life on my terms should a similar malady ever befall me. For the last few months prior to his death, he was bedridden, suffering intense pain, and spent most of his days unconscious. When he was awake, he was incoherent and unable to communicate intelligently with his friends and family who visited him. That's no life.

I am for it, but we need to ensure there are guidlines (I don't know what they should be) but I don't think we can be pulling cords willy nilly.

Can you imagine if they did allow anyone to do this? It would spell the end of the EMO generations!

I understand the idea here, saving people from pain and humility, but I think it sets a bad precedent for teenage suicide, when killing yourself becomes a socially and legally acceptable way of dealing with your demons.

Having just had to put my dog after he had been suffering from cancer and hearing stories about my grandfather with his Alzheimer's I'm 100% in favour of this.

Not sure that a terminal illness constitutes as a 'demon'.
It's not like someone's going to be able to go into the walk-in clinic, look at the menu board, and find "medically assistded suicide - $50" listed right next to sick notes.
Also, what an odd choice for a thread tag...

No, but if it's socially acceptable to kill yourself to rid the physical pain, people are going to start believing it's no problem to kill yourself to rid the emotional pain.
