haha, that's still how I feel sometimes. I bought my DSLR last January during a boxing week sale at Bestbuy and still feel intimidated to post my stuff to flickr then here. I put it off for so long, I remember one of my first posts in this thread was a comment about wishing I could take pics like the ones posted.

You check out good locations, you check this thread and comment in it, I'm guessing there is an interest there. Don't worry what others think just try it.

Yep, there's a huge interest. I don't like not being really good at things, it's one of my character flaws. I like to be awesome at everything right away, and if I'm not or don't think I will be, I shy away from it.

Try that. Sweet, it worked

I was north of the Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints Church when the view seemed to be perfect.

Some great pictures there Adam, brought back memories.

I am having a "miss my Dad" moment. I know I posted this about 5 and a half years ago, but it is still one of my favourites....

Big picture...

Spoiler!

i'm not sure if you guys are into getting 'mooned'.... but tonight, look up... waaaaaay up.....

Head outside at sunset tonight and look up at the sky. If the full moon seems a tad larger than normal to you, that means one of two things: You are exceptionally perceptive, or you were already expecting to be dazzled, after hearing some of the buzz about this year's "supermoon."

It turns out that all full moons are not created equal. That's because the moon's orbit around the Earth isn't a perfect circle — it's an ellipse. And tonight, we're in luck.

"We will have moon closest to the Earth at the exact moment, or within a minute or two of when it becomes full," says Andrew Fraknoi at Foothill College in Los Altos, Calif., and senior educator at the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. "And this has no cosmic danger or significance but it means the moon will be a little bit brighter and a little bit bigger in our sky."

hopefully the sky will be cloud free and i can get some sweet pics

My little man is now 7 months old and is trying to grab everything, including my DSLR.
Nolan was literally just inches away from my new wide angle lens.

I know people say that megapixels aren't important, but you should probably get a camera with more than 0.05 MP.

Good stuff, Mastodon. Your framing and composition is good, but what I would suggest working on is your white balance. It can take some of the yellow/orange tinge out of the shots. You're getting better though, it's defintely easy to see. Your Alberta Rockies and Lake Louise shots are awesome.

Here are some generic shots of Ayutthaya, Thailand.

(this one is in the Bangkok train station)

I think what you're commenting on isn't white balance, it's just that the saturation is higher than you like (me too).
