Tatar was basically a throw in to that trade to make the cap work though. That + you mentioned was Nick Suzuki (13th overall pick in 2017) and a second round pick.
So including the picks they gave up for Tatar they spent a first round pick, two second round picks, a third round pick, and a top prospect to bring in a 30 year old Pacioretty.
He’s had a nice bounce back offensively this season to be fair, but he only had 40 points last year.
Pacioretty and Tatar have basically the same points per game percentage since the trade.
Even Suzuki is chipping in with 0.56 PPG as a rookie in Montreal.
