Big 2 points on the line

Staying up until 4am is not a good idea but it's been too long since Flames hockey to miss this

Yeah, I like those lines a lot. Hate to see Sam and Janko on the 4th line but where else are they going to play? Those first three lines, on paper, look great.

Bennett - Janko - ???? are going to play 4th line minutes, but I wouldnt be shocked if they out produce the Ryan line on the score sheet.

So, with this line-up, there is only 1 spot that is up for grabs (Hathaway)?

Who would get it between Foo, Lazar, Dube, Mangiapane, Hathaway, and Klimchuk? I have a feeling that 1 or 2 players will be traded for picks if they don't make the roster. Too many players for such few spots (my guess is Lazar and Mangiapane will be traded).

Bennett-Jankowski-Dube. I like the sound of that line

Be prepared for not using the "Fourth Line Minutes" comment much anymore. The Flames will be rolling 4 lines with very little difference between playing time between the "Third and Fourth Lines". Look at it as two scoring lines and two checking lines, all of which should have considerably more speed and scoring ability than years past.

Why Hathaway though? Bennett always seems to have one useless plug in his line.

Yeah, I dont doubt that. I just think Ryan and Frolik probably see more special teams time on the PK to prop their ice time numbers up over Bennett and Jankos. Even strength they probably play a similar amount of time.

Whether Czarnik becomes a RW or C, I say we're gonna eventually see him move up the line-up with his intensity and that shot of his.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Czarnik
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Neal

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Czarnik - Neal

The sense that Ryan is a PKer though isn't well grounded. He wasn't in Carolina under the same coach. Why do people think he will be here?

Why trade Mangiapane? He’s still very young and can continue to develop in the A if he doesn’t get a spot. Klimchuk or Hathaway seem more likely, although I doubt there is much value there.

Ryan doesn’t kill penalties. I don’t expect that to change now.

I love the forward depth now. Basically 1a and 1b for the top 2 lines. Then 3a and 3b for the bottom 6. Will be tough for other teams to match lines against us.

Maybe we see Dube or Mangiapane eventually move Hathaway to 13th forward for an even faster 3b line.

A lot to like with our forwards so far.
