icon57 Flames Prospects: Predict your Top 3 Risers

Who will step up their game?

TOP RISERS

1: Juuso Välimäki
2: Dillon Dubé
3: Tyler Parsons

I've deliberately excluded players on the cusp, like Andersson, Mangiapane, Foo and Gillies.

Guys who'll play in the minors/juniors/college.

1. Parsons
2. Lil' Z
3. Healey

As measured by where they are ranked now on the Flames prospect list and where they will be ranked a year from now.
Parsons actually will have a hard time rising as I think Valimaki and Dube will likely still be prospects next summer, with Andersson graduating (Parsons was #4). But if he rebounds, as I think he will, he could easily be the #1 prospect in the org.

Zavgorodny seems to have upside and skill. He'll rise just as the fans follow him now. We just didn't know much about him this summer

And Healey is a guy who was #27 on our list, and while he has limited upside, I think he'll make some noise on the list.

Pollock will also move up from #26 with a bettr year

Mine are:

1: Dillon Dube
2: Spencer Foo
3: Jon Gillies

However, after that prospect game I'm also tempted to throw Dmitri Zavgorodny into that ranking, given how low he was this summer!

Big Z, Phillips, and Ruzicka seem like good bets to hike up the rankings next year. Dube I think makes the team this year.

Since we're talking about top risers and not top prospects, that pretty much eliminates Valimaki and Dube. I think we will see Phillips rise from the 9th spot (to 5), Zavgorodniy rise from the 21st spot (to 11) and Pollock rise from the 26th spot (to 13).

The 3 biggest risers in the prospect polls? It's gotta be guys with skill that were drafted in later rounds.

1. Filip Svenningson
2. Dmitry Zavgorodniy
3. Milos Roman

All were around the 20 mark, and they will likely be 5-10 spots higher next year.

Definitely, these guys,

1. Dube
2. Zavgorodny
3. Phillips (< 6 points in two games!)

Also not attending this tourney...

Demetrio Koumontzis the deft play-maker
Fililp Sveningsson the sniper with the elite shot

All five could have top 6 upside.

I missed both rookie games, but when even Edmonton media homer Stauffer praises Dube, he must have really stood out.

Hearing good things about Zavgorodniy which is exciting that someone unexpected stepped up.

A touch concerned that I haven't hears Valimaki's name a lot after the two rookie matches.

Dube was creating chances pretty much every shift, was great to see him dominate even if it’s against a pathetic prospect pool.
