Max years for Tkachuk at the Giordano cap hit limit...

6.75 x 8 = 54 million.

If I were the Flames, I'd offer 8*6 and see if the Tkachuk camp would be willing to sign now. Unfortunately, Tkachuk's camp would probably smell blood and demand more. But I'd really want to just get a contract done before next season if I were the Flames. I think Tkachuk will have a big season. He might get 65 points.
"Might"? Tkachuk was scoring at a 60-point pace last year with a weaker supporting cast. I think chances are pretty strong that he gets close to 65 this season.

Your updates are always appreciated AC, but it seems pretty clear this guy went the way of every guy who had a legit rumour or two and rose to fame because of it.

Feeling pressure to live up to his new found fame he started dishing out speculation to fill the void and the foundation that got him noticed is now gone.

Good comment on Larkin above. There are other comps as well. No way in hell Treliving’s opening was in the 4m area long term. Maybe a bridge? That would seem reasonable. Tre is a good negotiator....he wouldn’t start with a “stink bid” when everyone has all the same information and neither side is desperate. Just look like an idiot. I call BS on the insider.

4.5 long term is an entirely reasonable starting offer for a player who's accomplished what Tkachuk has so far. He hasn't even hit 50 points yet.

7 million also isn't ridiculous based on what everyone seems to be expecting out of Tkachuk this year.

After the upcoming season I think both sides will have a much better idea of what they have, and I imagine a long term deal will be much easier to complete. I'm betting on a 5.75x7 signed right after the draft.

Assuming Tkachuck continues to grow as he has, I suspect that the flames will respect the Gio and Gaudreau cap for those years that the two are currently signed and then go above for subsequent years.

Eg. 6.75x3 + 8×5= 60.25 (7.53AAV)

I wouldn't be comfortable giving Tkachuck that deal today, but with another solid season I could see him reaching this.
