I hope he gets a PTO with the Oilers, makes the team and scores a bunch of goals against them a la Kris Russell.

I think Versteeg is better than Brouwer, so if Brouwer can get a contract, so can Versteeg IMO

Injuries make the difference.

The ratings of vision of humanity are not about safety on the streets or at home. They are about political terror, militarisation and international conflicts. The only way they account actual crime is "the level of perceived crime" for whatever that means. It may be a useful rating for some purposes, but it absolutely not about chances if someone breaking in while you are taking a shower.
And, to make it clear, I have said a couple of times that I am trying to immigrate to Canada. It is a wonderful country, even if Winnipeg needs to put signs on the buses that you will go to jail if you assault the driver.

It'll be interesting to find out what was going on there.

I remember I have read here in off topic section that you had to close an underground tunnel in Calgary under MacLeod's Trail because of it. Another factor, at least in Moscow, is population density. Unless you walk out at 2AM, there are always people near you. And we don't have detached houses in Moscow, we live in hi rises mostly. Much harder to break in. This all contributes to a pretty safe environment.

You might very well be right, but let's remember Russia has a history of simply faking statistics to suit their political purposes. (Some argue that a big reason the Soviet Union was so poorly run was because they were doing it with information that was often worse than useless.)
Putins justification for staying in charge is largely that he's made the country stable again, which includes things like relatively low crime rates. As you said, "it's dangerous to cross him, but other than that you're going to be fine living under his rule."
That's a pretty big motivation to fake crime statistics if necessary. So maybe Russia is relatively safe, or maybe it's not. I don't think there's any way to know for sure.

That would explain why he wasn't playing very frequently. Shingles? What a random ailment.

Versteeg signs with the Vaxjo Lakers of the SHL.
https://www.vaxjolakers.se/artikel/m...ar-for-klubben
What is interesting is that is being reported that Vaxjo bought out Versteeg's KHL contract with Omsk to make this possible.
Vaxjo has former Flame Roman Horak on it's roster, who has 13g 13a in 37 games this season and leads the team in scoring.

And former Oiler, Viktor Fasth. Didn't Brendan Shinnimin attend two Flames prospects camps as well.
Surprisingly strong 'BERTA connection on that team.

I think by now it is just habit for Versteeg to move to a new team in February.
