Alright that run from Porteous was completely insane. I have no doubt he'll be underscored for being 16 and effectively a nobody but that is easily, easily worthy of 90+

EDIT: WHOA! I was totally wrong! They scored him! That's awesome, totally deserved. That is going to be tough to beat. Wise has a run that can do it, but everyone has to step up their games now. Holy crap!

Loved the 16 year old kids reaction - those are the best olympic moments when somebody does something that surprises even themselves.

Wise down first hit... now only one chance to make it happen. We might have a 16 year old gold medalist! Not a lot of guys in this comp have a 95 in them.

New Zealand had a 16-year old girl get bronze in snowboard Big Air and now this boy leading in half-pipe... whatever their youth program is doing, we should copy it.

^Their entire ski program is called "the Wells brothers". They basically created a generation of skiers there.

Torin definitely had a medal there but ran out of pipe. Unreal run up to that point, just boosting.

Okay, that didn't deserve a 96. :/

Since our mountains aren't very tall and the snows not consistent enough to do any kind of high level racing, all the kids get into freestyle here.

Last call for Noah. Let's see if he's got something bigger.... nope, goes down. Probably won't medal, has to rely on a couple of guys falling. Still, an 89.4 is about what I thought he had in him so it's not a terrible comp for him.

First bullet, David Wise.

Game. Over. Too bad for Noah but seriously that run is pretty much unbeatable. If they don't give him gold that's a travesty.

And there it is. It was really just a matter of time. No one else has anything at that level.

Yeah that was lame. Sitting in second with one run to go and you don't even try?

The run he put down - which should really have had him in first until Wise did what he did - was beyond what I thought he was even capable of doing. He has probably never done anything like that and going for anything more would be risking serious injury so I can sort of understand it, even though I do agree with TJ - just add a rotation to that first trick, if you stick it you've done something no one else has ever landed in a competition, and then who knows what the judges do with it.

Probably thought he couldn't beat his run, but it seems to me like there's score inflation as the event goes on so maybe he gets back into first with a repeat?
