Was at the dome for the season opener this year vs the Jets. Jagr by far got the loudest cheer couple of times. That was fun. That's my Jagr memory! Legend!

So Jagr wants to play elsewhere, am I hearing that right?

Oh Flames...this is in fact the darkest timeline.

I want the Flames to give him one more game, or for him to be shown on the home scoreboard so the fans can give him a proper send off.

Sad to see Jagr go out like this, given the career he had. . . .

However, I'm not really surprised it didn't work - what Jagr still had in the toolbox never matched what the Flames were missing up front.

Easy come easy go. Can't cater to a 45 year old, team first.

you're right, but there is also a right way to handle this and a wrong (oiler style) way to handle this.

Every eye in hockey will be on how the Flames do this. We want to make sure it's done right and respects Jagr for his contributions to the game, Flames or otherwise.

Maybe Jagr should have come to camp in shape. If he really was expecting to get a contract, maybe he should have been worth it.

Didn't think it was a bad signing at the time, but hearing him talk about not being in shape was troubling. Would really have loved to have seen a better effort from him, but he is old, so thems the breaks.

Hope that both sides keep it classy if he is indeed going to leave. Maybe this will free up a spot to sign Iginla.

This is the kind of crap i'm talking about. The "don't let the door hit you on the way out"/"we're too good for you"/"you're a ####ty person" type of comment is how the Oilers handle their departures. It's why they have a tough time attracting players. It speaks poorly for their market.

We're better than that. Stop it with this kind of crap. Jagr didn't work out. Fine. We're moving on. Wish him the best and thank him for the work he did with Bennett, Tkachuk and Jankowski while he was here.

Agreed. If 22 year old Gaudreau misses camp and has on off year (last year), 44 year old Jagr missing camp is Grand Canyon to come back from. The nostalgia was fun, but I'm happy to see it stop on the ice.

It did sound like he wasn't overly working in the offseason like a player that was aiming to be ready to play hockey in October. Not piling on the guy or anything but I don't think it helped that he was out of shape when he joined the team. For a guy that has managed to play this late in his career kind of interesting how he didn't really manage this offseason well. That said when players are in their 30's their play can drop off a cliff out of nowhere so maybe expectations were a little high of him at 45 years old.
