Considering that lineup would give us a damn good chance at the cup, I’m sure everyone would (and should) be on board. Tavares leaving New York would still surprise the hell out of me though.

Good stuff.
I just dont see Tavares signing anything under 11M a year unless its with the Islanders, and even then it may be too big an ask from Snow for him to agree.

I think its getting more and more likely Tavares will test free agency.
The big hold up on an extension was supposed to be the arena deal and now that is announced there reportedly hasn't been any talks.
He probably goes to the free agent courting period and sees whats out there. Whether he pulls a Stamkos or Parise remains to be seen.

Totally agree. However, by the looks of it, Jankowski seems more than ready to take Backlund's place within the next few years.
Tkachuk - Tavares - Bennett
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Dube/Eatbread - Jankowski - Frolik
That is insane.
Too bad it will never happen

I cringe when I see other teams' fans being so delusional about possible free agency signings, so it kills me that I keep seeing posts here about the possibility of signing Tavares this summer. Anyone who thinks there's a real chance of him signing here is being completely unrealistic.
Sorry for being Debbie Downer.

Its even worse when people complain about it possibly happening because we might lose Backlund or Ferland
love those guys...would drive them both to the Airport

He will 100% sign with an NHL team, Flames are a team that plays in the NHL, remote but there is a chance he considers the Flames.

If Tavares tests the FA market and the Flames came out and offered him 12M he would 100% think about it. I don't see him getting less than 12M.

I don't think anyone has proposed it as likely, though. Most posts have the "dare to dream" caveat appended to the line-up with Tavares in it.

It is a speculation thread. Tavares is a free agent. He will likely sign back with the Islanders or another eastern team. It is very highly unlikely he signs with Calgary. It’s still fun to imagine how he’d fit into our lineup. Lighten up.
I don’t see him signing for less than 11m anywhere to be honest.

You could be right about that, particularly if the cap goes up to 80m

Yeah no way Tavares is signing a discount to play for a team out west. He's getting 11M+ guaranteed whoever he signs with.

If Tavares tests FA then its pimped-out dump truck full of money time.
I wonder if the Flames still have that truck they offered to Richards? It must be out back somewhere.....maybe check Feaster's old stall.

Friedman on 960 said that he thinks the Oilers and Sens trade talks for Hoffman involved Caggiula.
If that is the kind of players Ottawa is looking at, Treliving get in on this.

I don’t think Calgary is on the top 10 list for Tavares but if they make some noise in the playoffs that could change. Hamonic is likely good buddies with him so he could help with the pitch.
I think he stays in the east

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers took a run at Tavares.

The real question is do we even want him at 12 million? Almost double our highest contracts.
I am thinking the Flames wouldn't do it but I think Tavares pulls a Stamkos at the end of the day or goes to the Rangers.

My god the Senators are a disaster. Why on earth would they entertain a swap involving those two players? They need a new owner badly who can come in and clean house.
