Didn't the Sens also get Bishop in that deal who they later flipped for Cory Conacher?

HNIC:
Ottawa has asked for Karlsson's no trade list.
Doesn't mean they are 100% trading Karlsson. Senators may be getting all the no trade lists from the 10 players that have them and work from there.
But it certainly has opened the door.
Oilers interested in Hutchinson but the delay is Steve Mason has failed his concussion test. Mason is expected to be cleared this week
Edmonton may be taking a look at Mrazek too.
Pens looking for a backup for Murray.

Oh also forgot to add that Kypreos said Melnyk might be upset that Karlsson said he wouldn't take a hometown discount.

just for ***** and giggles
If I were the Flames GM I would offer Dougie Hamilton(Freddie as well,of course), Backlund, Fox and Dube for Karlsson.
Move Janko up to 2nd Line C and Sam back to 3rd line C.
Promote Mangiapane or another who can grab a spot and run with it.
Johnny- Monny- Ferland
Tkachuk- Janko- Frolik
Mangiapane-Bennett-Hathaway/Jagr
LazarBrouwe- Stajan - Brouwer/Jagr
Giordano- Karlsson
Brodie - Hamonic
Kulak - Stone
Or
Karlsson - Hamonic
Giordano- Brodie
Kulak - Stone
But I look for a deal involving Brodie if Janko can’t handle the minutes and revert to similar current lines.

Pass on that trade, Karlsson has not looked great this season.

I would definitely trade one of Hamilton/Backlund and those prospects for Karlsson, but not both.
Ottawa is a tire fire. Melnyk has ripped off Karlsson for years so him being upset at Karlsson for wanting to be paid what he's worth is laughable.

I'd be leery of trading/signing Karlsson at all now. He has looked terrible since his operation.

The Sens are in for some interesting times ahead. I wouldn't want to pay Karlsson what he is likely to ask for, especially given the team looks to be stuck as mediocre (one Cinderella conference finals run aside). But if they move Karlsson they might as well start the whole thing over and go scorched earth.
Feel for sens fans. All this happening while the leafs are ascending.

If the Sens go scorched earth they really need to reunite the Stone brothers in Calgary then.
Just my two cents.

It's no surprise that Karlsson's slump is mirrored by the team's losing streak as their success is tied to his play. Without him they are probably a lottery team and that has to sting especially with the Duchene trade not working out to date. Looks like tough times are ahead for fans of that market and what's troubling is that they couldn't sell out when they were winning so I can see some really bad attendance in store for them if without Karlsson.

Agreed. I feel like Ottawa is the least supported team locally in Canada. Of course much of it has to do with that arena but still.

I wonder how much of that is because geographically they're sandwiched between two of the most storied franchises in the league?
As much as I hate the Leafs, it's hard to argue that the Leafs and Habs have huge followings everywhere. By comparison, Ottawa has only been a franchise for 25 years; not nearly long enough to create generations of fans who grow up watching the games with their parents and grandparents.
Hopefully they get there eventually.

Melnyk is like combining Kevin Lowes jerk pettiness with Katz''s creepy traits.
Wherever Karlsson goes after Ottawa I think he'll be very successful.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Without a doubt Karlsson is a skilled player but much of his game relies on speed and maneuverability. He just had a chunk of his ankle removed. He's just going to get worse. Sucks for Ottawa and their fans but they really should move him if not now then at the deadline. No way do they overpay to keep him and they shouldn't.

the fourth period has now picked up on the story that the Flames and Sabres are scouting each other saying the teams are believed to be in trade talks over the last few weeks.
