Default HNIC: Jagr's time with the Flames is coming to an end

per Friedman on HNIC

Calgary and Jagr are working on an exit, trying to figure out how to go about it
his agent has been given permission to talk to other teams
Not likely going to Olympics when talking to Czech sources, he has retired from national team and focused on the NHL
Sitting on some medical reports - waiting to see if injuries can be rehabbed.
If he plays 8 more games he is owed $150k bonus and potentially up to $500k more which might be hard for a team to fit in
Kypreos: This is the first time he has been cut by a team

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
The Jaromir Jagr watch continues in CGY. Ongoing dialogue between player and club tho no announcements appear imminent. Still, no great sense of optimism.

Lame. I'll always have a Jagr jersey that isn't a lie tho, and nobody can take that away from me.

He’s had an absolutely legendary career but I think it time to hang ‘em up.

That’s a real shame. Was really hoping it would work out here.

Did Kypreos say that it’s the first time he’s been cut by a team? Is that an accurate thing to say?

Edit: that the Flames have cut him, not that he’s never been cut.

I think he just hasn't been good enough and has been hurt too often. His body has let him down finally. And in fairness to the Flames, even if you think he's been good enough when in, it's gotta be tough to plan when you can't predict him being in the lineup or not.

I wonder if those other teams are in Europe? I can't see him landing somewhere else in the NHL.

If he is coming to an end, I hope this is to ship him off to Pittsburgh so he can retire as a Penguin.

That's too bad. I didn't expect him to light it up or anything, but I was really looking forward to a season with him involved.

I hope that our young players were able / are able to glean as much as they can from that fountain of knowledge before it does come to an end.

Still think it was worth the try.

Oh, if he was cut that makes more sense. At first I thought this was him asking to be released

I must have been watching a different set of games, but he's looked slow yet effective every time I've watched him.
