The sad thing is Ron MacLean the rest of the crew is going to find an excuse to talk about McAvi and the Oilers whether they played that night or not.

And as the playoffs go on and the Oilers are well into the golf season he'll have to think of something that will allow him to mention McAvi.

LA also has a concert on Friday, so there will be a two-day break in the Oilers-Kings series when it shifts to LA. Luckily, both the Lakers and Clippers missed the playoffs this year, so the arena is free the rest of the time.
The Kings have a small chance of passing the Oilers so games 3 and 4 would be in Edmonton.

Good to see Vegas, Dallas and Nashville all stumble down the stretch here winning 4-5 games in their last 10. Flames currently on a 9-1-1 run.

When we played Colorado we lost 4 of our final 7 and they were coming in on a heater.

Epic collapse by Vegas last night, blowing a 4-2 lead against the Sharks in the third period. I hope Dallas can put the final nail in their coffin Tuesday

By Wednesday the following games will have been played:
E=NG @ PIT (opens opportunity for LA to get home ice)
CGY @ NSH (of note as it opens up the opportunity for DAL to get WC1)
LVK @ DAL (for almost all the marbles)
LVK @ CHI (dependent on previous game)
ARI @ DAL (A loss to Vegas in RW probably makes this close to a must win)
LA @ SEA (depending on what the Oilers are doing, push for home ice)

I can't imagine the race will get prolonged much longer after these set of games.

Kings need a point (gained or lost by Vegas) to sew up the 3rd PAC spot. Then after that it is a 3 horse race for the final 2 WC spots that can end rather quickly if Dallas beats Vegas on Tuesday.

Vegas has a less than 10% chance to make the playoffs currently and I like those odds. Flames just need to keep playing hard and try to win games, rest guys if needed, and get ready for the playoffs. Everything else will take care of itself.

If Dallas beats Vegas tomorrow in regulation, they are in, and Nashville just need 1 point to clinch, and Vegas is out.

If Vegas loses in regulation, they'd be done, regardless of how Nashville does.

A Vegas regulation loss would mean the best they could do would be 94 points with 35 RW and 40 ROW. Nashville already has 94 points with 35 RW and 41 ROW. Nashville would win the tiebreaker based on ROW.

So Dallas just needs one great performance tomorrow night, then they can start preparing to get beat up by Calgary or wasting 8 days with Colorado. Just do us this one favour first Dallas. Please.

A crazy OOT result could have the Knights, Flames, and Canucks all win in reg time. That would mean no teams clinch and the Canucks would still be alive.

The Oilers have clinched 2nd place with the victory over the Penguins. The Kings have clinched 3rd place with the Knights SO loss to the Stars. That means the Knights will finish 4th and may or may not make the playoffs. The Canucks will be 5th and out of the playoffs.

Dallas plays Arizona and Anaheim.
Nashville plays Colorado and Arizona.

Dallas needs one more point than Nashville to be our opponent.

Will Colorado tank their game with Nashville to get Dallas?
Is Nashville's goalie seriously hurt?

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Colorado needs to win to have a chance at the President's Trophy, so they should be motivated to beat Nashville.

Before yesterday's games the odds were 60% that we played Nashville.

Now it's 50/50.

It's bizarre that Nashville played us yesterday and plays Colorado next. Will be a playoff preview either way.

Arizona just beat Minnesota so that's not a gimme either. The Coyotes play Nashville AND Dallas.

It's all out of our control so the chips will fall where they fall. But it will be interesting if the point Nashville lost yesterday will mean they finish 8th instead of 7th...

Looking at the remaining games and with Soros out I’m pretty sure we will be getting Dallas.

Probably the less physical of the 2 teams. But if Soros is out long term Nashville will get destroyed by whoever plays them in round 1.

I don't think any team gives a #### about the president's trophy. If you win it and win the cup no one cares because the cup is more important, if you win it and don't win the cup though then it's just a reminder that you failed in the playoffs

Winning the regular season is still an accomplishment worth celebrating.
