As for those specific locations Thunderball, the Beltline does have the older style Rec and Aquatic centers. East Village doesn't but the Renfrew Rec and Aquatic center is just to the north and the Inglewood pool is to the east, short distances.

These new leisure centers are a different breed altogether however. City built then handed over to the YMCA for day-to-day functions.

So the City did offer a counter-proposal because the initial CalgaryNEXT proposal was 'not feasible.'

It appears that the puck is in CSEC's hands now? And they're handling it about as well as Anders Eriksson.

He still shouldnt have said anything. Threatening to move the team is such a low move, especially at this stage of the game. Even hinting at the threat is ridiculous.

From what I gather here's what they want for what little money(100m?) they put in out of pocket.

- free rent
- no property taxes
- money from parking
- money from concessions
- management fees
- partridge in a pear tree

City of Calgary gets:

- your calgary flames
- to raise your tax dollars
- repeated 30 year nightmare

I don't really get what's wrong with the dome. I mean, it's a year younger than me and as far as I know no one is trying to get rid of me.

How is a new arena going to help with revenue? Bigger capacity? Fancier fittings which make people happy to pay out more for season tickets & overpriced concessions? I just don't see it. Or is it a big earner because of the construction contracts they get to hand out to companies in the position to rake in money building the thing?
