Either way, no thanks. I respect the game that defensive defensemen play, but our top 4 is solid enough at the moment.

Is it? We have a top 3, but who's the 4th?

Unless we move Wideman, it's him.
Also, Jokipakka looks good out there. 6'3 and can skate, plays a solid defensive game. Steady. I'd see if he can take a step up.

Nakladal. The Flames have to ink this guy, I think he has the tools to be a solid #4 for us.

That's a little ambitious IMO. He's 28 and while another season in North America will likely bring more improvement he probably is what he is at this point which is a bottom pairing defenseman with a good shot. I hope they can sign him but something will have to give with Smid and Wideman still on the roster.

Lets say the Oilers address their Defence without trading #4.
Is there any appetite for the flames to swap say #6 + a D prospect (Kylington or Andersson) for #4?
Would give them their choice of forward to draft (from the 2nd group).

There's a definite appetite to swap.
But IMO, those guys are overpayment to move up two spots. Wotherspoon or a 2nd is probably a fair price.

Possible, but I personally wouldn't do it to move up 2 spots. Division rivals make it much harder.
Edit: What Enoch Root said. I don't even think I would move the Flames 2nd. Florida would be it for me.

If the Flames can move to #4 without a massive overpayment, it would probably make it a lot easier to get to #3 as CBS would have a choice of a forward remaining.

Is the drop off from the top 3 ledge to the next ledge (4-8 according to most, but possibly even 4-12 depending on the source) really that big this year?

I think Puljujarvi is head and shoulders above everyone else after the first 2. I don't know if I'd give up Bennett for him just because of positions but I do see if there was any way possible to get that #3 pick.

Excellent. We really weren't going to be in the market and I'm glad he won't be going to the Canucks or Oilers.
