Default Redwood Meadows

We are looking at the Community of Redwood Meadows.
It has everything we want and if we were to move here this would be where we stay until our kids ship us off to nursing homes. We have a two year old and we are expecting our second child in January, so hopefuly we would be staying for 35+ years.

What do you know about the lease land with the Tsuu T'ina? What are the risks involved in buying here?

http://www.redwoodmeadows.ab.ca/town...lease-updates/

Contains the most recent update from the mayor of redwood meadows

A copy of the Redwood Meadows headlease. I'd make sure you read and understand this before you buy. Pay special note to article 3, where it says the lease expires Sep 5th 2049.

They're saving money to go towards the renewal of the lease (or payout if no lease renewal occurs). You should be aware that a renewal of the lease requires two votes. One by the Redwood Meadows residents and one by the band members on Tsuu T'ina.

No problem. I love the idea of Redwood Meadows. The prices are quite a bit lower than comparable "country" type properties because of the lease. But then you have the risk of the lease...

thanks for the info, yep got to weight out the pros of great area, community, and affordable lots to the cons of the risk of the lease.

I live out near Redwood Meadows and a few of my friends live in Redwood and it's not a bad place to live. IMO it has a decent location (30 mins from Calgary and 10 minutes from Bragg Creek) It also has pretty nice recreational facilities like a couple soccer fields, baseball diamonds, playground, newly renovated ice rink in the winter (which is converted into a small skateboard park in the summer), and obviously the golf course. I have spent a lot of time there and I have always found the people to be friendly and I have actually quite enjoyed living close to it.
