I agree with Cali that Okposo won't get the deal some around here think he'll get. I could see a one year deal for 6 mil or something but on a 4 year deal he's probably looking at 5 or less.

Nah, UFAs always get drastically overpaid and he's young to boot. I see him demanding a long term deal at 6 million or so. At that money I'd stay far away.

Hard to say as it only takes one or two teams that are desperate to drive up the price. We did see with Franson that teams are weary of handing out big money and term to guys that are tier 2 players to which I consider Okposo and it's going to depend on which team badly needs a complementary player like him enough to overpay. His offensive production may dry up if he's not paired with one of the top centers in the league so I would be weary of handing out significant term.

I think last year we saw a major shift in how teams are going to structure what players get paid. The top tier guys will make crazy money, third rate guys will scramble to find any work and second tier guys (like Okposo IMO) are going to have to take less in term and dollars.
On a side note, as much as I'd like to have Okposo on the Flames, I really want the Flames to get Perron.

I think Frolik ($4.3M) is a fairly good low-end comparable. People will pay a bit of a premium for Okposo's toughness and better offence over the past few years. My guess would be a 4-5 year deal at $5.5M per season.

How painful is it that the three key pieces missing from the Flames are
Physical goal scoring right handed shooting Right Winger
Tough as nails stay at home defenseman who can play against top line players
Elite level goaltender
Where is Doc Brown.

We'd probably be facing SJ in the 2nd round right now if we had prime Iggy, Regehr, and Kipper.

Hopefully we are a playoff team if we add two hall of fame talents, and a former Canadian Olympic defense-man to this roster.
We better be a freaking cup team actually.

Probably facing?
The Flames would have been waiting for their conference finals opponent since last week.

I've been playing this "what if" scenario through my mind since last year.
When they had those 3, a lot of the current team would've complimented them nicely, and now, ironically with a good looking team shaping up, these are the 3 biggest holes.
It's almost like the "hockey gods" are F-ing with us.
