Great foot soldier, and plug and play complimentary player.
Plays died on his stick in the last two years and I couldn't stand all his stick infractions, but he was a great up and down complimentary player that could play with skilled guys and help them defensively.
Really happy with the fourth.
Really happy no salary is retained.
And really happy a roster spot is open to be honest.
But great UFA signing and a good hockey player.

I’m very happy about the trade. Some were arguing at the start of the year that Frolik was the kind of player you wanted to pick up at the deadline but I think we’re seeing now that Flames have bigger problems than a bottom roster player can fix.
Now the question is how they are going to use the cap space. The later you wait, the bigger the salary you can absorb.
I wonder if this deal was there this summer?

I am of course genuinely intrigued to see what Brad does next. I’m hopeful that in spending the cap-space he freed up today, he won’t be adding a mid-tier, inflated contract filled with “intangibles”.

Yup, he had a decent run in Calgary and am thankful we had him for a few years.
His offense wasn't great considering his cap hit at this point in time, but he is still a reasonably good player.
I hope he can go on a run with Buffalo and get another NHL contract next year.

Rieder had made Frolik redundant.
Almost the same player, Rieder the slight downgrade but at 1/5 the cost.
Was good for a few years, am happy we can recoup a mini asset from him leaving.

I think that last second roll back on salary cap total at the draft pretty much made any player with an inflated salary in your bottom six untradeable. At least it looked that way until today!
