Three years ago it was discovered I had a DVT clot in my leg, that spread to my lungs causing a pulmonary embolism. After six months on Xarelto (blood thinner) I was cleared to play sports, and have had no problems since then. I don't even have to take aspirin now.
In my case, I think the original clot was caused by a leg injury followed by a long flight. Hopefully, it was related to that one incident, and I'm not predisposed to clots in general. I hope Stone has a similar outcome, and can resume his career with no concerns.

Sorry to hear that! Stone’s cloy is in his arm, which is a fair bit different than leg clots.

With the team so well, I forgot he's even with the Flames. Thought he either signed with another team or got traded. LOL

I heard Voracek was having the same problem in Philadelphia a few years back if I recall correctly. I could be wrong, but at the time they said it was career threatening.

So when Stone is cleared, does Kylington or Prout get demoted?
Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Stone - Andersson
Kylington/Prout
Valimaki - injured

Lucky you had a smart doctor that put you on Xarelto instead of Warfarin (coumadin), and congrats on getting through it. I have known a few people that have had temporary clots too for one reason or another, and they managed to get off thinners with no further clot issues as well. Clots are a scary thing.
As for Stone, I can't see Treliving trading him unless something really juicy comes up and the other team really wants Stone, or the Flames need to clear salary to fit someone else in. Smart teams add defencemen if they have any playoff aspirations, not trade them away. Sure, Andersson took Stone's job this year, but a healthy Stone is a boon to the depth on the right side. Heck, even Prout with some warts has been mostly good this year in the limited games and minutes. Stone has proven to be a capable 2nd pairing defencemen. Great? No, but I argue he has been capable.

It's exciting to have so many NHL level defenders. Guessing he'll do a rep in Stockton before the month is out. He's not my favourite, the young kids just have such great upside to watch, but for playoffs, a big body like his is needed. Hamonic has taking a beating this year, he and Gio can't play that role alone.

Prout is an AHLer.
I'd put it more like Stone >>> Prout.

250 career NHL games says Prout is more than just an AHLer

It is usually VERY obvious. Leg will swell up to 50% or more of normal size.
My dad has had them for most of his life, in fact his first was when he was younger than I am now, which freaks the heck out of me.

Saw him practice this morning. He was doing shooting drills with another D-man I believe (think it was Valimaki).
Stone was moving very well and was firing them. I wouldn't have guessed he was out of hockey for a number of months by the way he looked.

He said in an interview he's been training for a while. Doing everything but contact. All the hard skate cardio stuff.
And I'm jealous you get to see stuff like that. I'm only 1800 miles away.
