That should have made him more attractive because if he didn't work out they could have cut him lose. It's not like they had to use that pick in Engelland as they could have waited until the 48 hour window to sign him to the same deal. They used the pick in Engelland because there wasn't a player they felt was worth picking including Kulak who's a player most teams have on their AHL roster that's a good AHL player but not good enough to play in the NHL.

I think Methot goes to Dallas for the 29th pick +, the Stars are looking good, with Bishop and Methot(if they get him) plus the 3rd overall pick, they are going to be good, if they can get that Russian kid back, this team is looking good.

McKenzie thinks there will be more activity tomorrow than today.

16th pick + prospect?

Or we could sign Stone and keep those assets.

Habs must be in on at least one of them D, otherwise they're screwed.

That might make sense if Stone was as good as Hamonic.
So don't trade for an upgraded top 4 D or right wing? Just keep what we have?

Flames on lookout for top-4 D... believe they've looked into Hamonic, Methot, among others; also still trying to re-sign M. Stone...

I think that if Brodie goes back to playing at the level he's capable of, him and Stone would make a fine second pairing. It was hard to fit anyone in that #4 spot cause Brodie was dropping the ball, himself.

I am not opposed to Stone at 4 but then the number 5 needs to be greatly upgraded because I am not convinced Stone is an everyday top 4 D

Having stone at 4 for most of this year is fine. Would be great if Anderson or Kulak could replace/push him down next year.

I think now is the time for Treliving to hit a home run again. Hamonic, Dumba - someone along those lines. Yeah, it'll cost a lot via trade but it's so much smarter than committing term and dollars to a free agent. Brouwer is a "bad" contract, and Treliving needs to keep his bad contract quota capped with that one - and I'd say you're way more likely to add a dud contract than a good one during free agency.

What prized assets are you willing to part with?
The team is short on picks and have already traded future picks for Smith.
Personally I do not want or see them trading Monahan, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Bennett, Backlund, or the big 3 on the blueline.
Do they move too prospects? Jankowski, Parsons/Gillies, Dube, Anderson, Kylington?
Frolik or Ferland?
Tough to see what movable assets the Flames have to make a huge splash.
