Oilers on a winning streak, expect an article from Spector or Staples about the Oilers turning the tides with Hitchcock rejuvenating the team. Let's not forget they faced some truly tough opponents, including a grueling battle of wits in the SO last night where every player tried their hardest to score and eventually someone did.
The ever dominant 5-5-0 in the past 10 record has propelled them in a tie with the wild card. Chiarelli will take this opportunity to relax that his job is safe, and continue to make plans to get that elusive #1 winger they just cannot seem to be able to find. They've tried everything, including trading a #1 hart winning winger. Armed with all of this year's draft picks at his disposal, the opportunity to win is now and the mandate is to make the playoffs, and he will do everything he can to top his Griffin Reinhart, Spooner, Manning and Larsson trades

It sounds like people above Chiarelli are taking a “playoff or bust” mentality.
This would be a concern with your run-of-the-mill, good-to-average GM. But with a GM who’s shot himself in the foot with trades so often, you’d think he didn’t have any toes left, it’s terrifying with Chiarelli.

Oilers Trade first round pick for Wayne Simmonds; get swept by Flames, Wayne then signs a team-friendly deal in Calgary as UFA to be a PP specialist on PP2 and add some grit for 2019-2020. Philly drafts the next must-have prospect with the pick.

Reason: Oilers trade their first; not the Flames.
Trading the 1st and missing due to ROWs in a tie would be incredibly amusing with how much they've played for/sat on a tie to get that Mc3on3 to end up banking on awful 4-6 round coin flip wins like last night.
Team is a vacuum of killer instinct.

The good thing about them winning two games in a row is that the owner will be excited and the bad deal might actually happen. If the Oilers give up their first we can all start cheering for them to finish dead last.
Last night was the first time the Oilers have won two consecutive games since 11 December.
i've got another men's league tonight (so i'll be seeing a few oil fans). i'm sure the "winning streak" will be brought up (bahahaha!). oh... i'm also waiting with baited breath to hear about the resurgence of lucic! ha! ha!
what i also find hilarious in talking to other oil fans is the 'chest pounding' these guys are doing now that the oil caught/passed the ducks. ok... congratulations... your crappy team just past a team that has lost TWELVE in row!! how no good do you have to be to only be able to pass a team once they lose twelve games in a row!??!
E=NG!

If we trade our 1st for Wayne Simmonds...nothing will happen but I'll be choked
What a weird season that the Oilers are knocking on the door of a playoff spot while playing at a 86 point pace. There's a big gap between the top 5 teams in the conference and everyone else.
I would love if BT would throw an anchor to Chia and walk away with their first overall pick. I am not interested in Poolparty, but would love to have their first round pick at the draft.
