That was a pretty great goal by Lazar on Budaj too.

It always amazes me when I watch the AHL affiliate. It’s a frickin’ rodeo. I always think of what anyone coming up from Stockton must think. The NHL is so much more demanding in terms of speed and skill, but also so much more reliable.

Returning to the A must be like when you have a guy who has played real games in high level junior, going to a beer league team where half the guys haven’t even had a competitive coach

Some of the bottom feeders are starting to creep up to a playoff spot as the Stars, Avs, and Wild all lost. These teams hold the last 3 playoff spots.

The Habs beat the Avs 3-0, all the goals were scored in the 3rd period. Brett Kulak's SHG is the winning goal and Carey Price gets the SHUTOUT stopping all 28 shots. The win puts the Habs back in a playoff spot as the Islanders and Sabres lost.

The Red Wings beat the Wild 5-2! Bertuzzi with a hat trick and Vanek scored 2 goals. The interesting pattern had the Red Wings scoring a goal in the first minute of each period. The Wild only had 18 shots on net, easy win for Howard. The Red Wings fired 37 shots on Dubnyk who looked like a one man show.

The Blues are riding their rookie goalie and he hasn't lost yet. Binnington is 3-0 as he faced 22 shots in the win, Tarasenko scored 2 goals in the Blues 3-1 victory. St. Louis loves playing on the road lately, 6-2-0 is their record and are now only 5 points back of the 8th place Wild.

The Coyotes are only 4 points back of the Wild after their bizarre win over the Oilers.

The Penguins had an off night as they lost to the Kings 5-2. Both teams scored a SHG.

AHL quality defense will drag a team down.

Yesterday, it was the Rookie D-Man, Dahlstrom, that had an awful game, often over-committing to cover for #5 or #7. He could have broken up the 2nd Vegas' goal by stepping into Carpenter, when the incoming puck was bouncing. Then, in OT, he took a fatal step just inside the blueline, and whiffed on making any contact. It's hard not to pin those goals on the kid.
