Shout out to "Forever a Flame" Troy Brouwer for screening his own goalie on the Gio goal.

You keep doing you, bud.

I doubt he'll care that you didn't like it, so I wouldn't bother telling him.

I feel good for him and hope he can spend the rest of the year kicking ass on the 3 M line.

I don't fault Peters for trying to put Bennett up there, but this team is at its best with the 3 M working its magic.
Maybe the coach was right to sit him

Woot, now I don't have a jersey foul anymore! :P Apart from Tkachuk on the back, the "A" is my favourite

The idea is to win. You can't play your best for all 82 games. Not possible.

Really good teams save their efforts for games against other really good teams. And they do enough to win against the weaker teams.

That is what we're seeing now from these guys - enough to win these games. They are 7-1-1 since the Christmas break. In that stretch, their best efforts came against SJ, WIN, CHI, and BOS (which they deserved to win).

Against VAN, DET, PHI, COL and FLA, they cruised.

The only good team that they played poorly against was COL, yet they still managed to win.

Against (current) playoff teams, the Flames are 15-6-3. In their last 10, they are 7-2-1

Against the top 8 teams in the league (excluding the Flames), they are 7-4-2 and haven't lost in regulation to a top 8 team since November.

That's what top teams do to be convincing. I don't need them to trounce the Floridas of the league to be convincing, I want to see how they look against the good teams.

And this exactly what Peters - as the coach - should be saying (and he is right).

I have to say, what I find hilarious about the ATL is that most Oiler fans were upset not about Calgary winning, but rather Chucky getting a point on an empty net.

That really sums them up. They're more worried about unimportant individual stats than anything else.

No, that's not it at all.

Peters is right that they haven't been playing great for a while now, and seem to be doing just enough to win.

It is literally his job to fight against that and push them to be better.

At the same time, it is simply a fact, and human nature, that you cannot be at your best every single night. And IMO, it is far more important that they are at their best when playing the good teams. They are beating the best teams on a regular basis. And they are doing enough to beat the weaker teams.

That is exactly what I want. And having Peters pissed about it, and pushing them to be better, is also exactly what I want.

But hoping or assuming they are going to be great every night is a pointless exercise in futility.

They we're referring to Gaudreau. Which all players from the top line touched the puck

I was going to post something similar and point to a couple of posts I recall from last night about the ASG vote on the Edmonton HF Board.

I went back there to quote it and sure enough there were posts about the apparent “salt” we feel over Giordano. But to be fair, when I went back just now, there were probably more posts acknowledging that Gio deserved to be there more.

It makes EN goals extra delicious knowing that each time the Flames score one, Edmonton gets further encrusted in salt!

Just like the spear that Aaron Dell gave to Sam Bennett in the San Jose game. Using your stick as a weapon is of no concern to the Department of Player Safety. /s

Unless you are Tkachuk and give a little tickle to a guy in the tunnel.

And didn't Versteeg get a suspension for a really minor stick poke?
