Default Program to slow songs/music down?

I am having trouble tabbing some fast background riffs. Can anyone suggest a good program to slow down the songs?

Too tired right now to search myself.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Audacity is free and is both fairly straightforward and works well... if it's the kind of thing you're looking for. Hope that helps.

Since 1999 I have used Nullsoft's DSP plugin for the really ancient and original Winamp and it has the best tempo control that I've had in any music player that doesn't introduce silly artifacts.

That said, Audacity will work for permantely changing pitch/tempo on songs.

The latest Windows media player does it as well I think.

On the Mac, Capo is by far the best one I've found. The pitch shifting/compensation is flawless

Seconded. It's open source, which is why it's totally free.

I use guitar and drum trainer 2 by renegade minds.

They have a way newer version out, so this one is free. It looks very basic.

You can speed up or slow down music in percents, so I usually start slow and keep going up by 5% at a time until I get to the normal tempo.

You can also set it to loop at certain parts of the song. Great for trying to nail that riff or solo. I love it

Ok, I got Audacity but how do you slow the music down? I see it under "effects" but I can't select it. I bailed and download Guitar and Drum Trainer. Much easier I find.

You have to select the track or the area that you want to slow down, if that doesn't work then I'm not sure.
