I was, but then I read anandtech's review and decided against it, because I found the impressions at the end resonated with my situation. Namely, WTF would I actually use this for?

I can see the iPad 2 having a lot of great use in certain industries.
Construction - take pictures of deficiencies on job sites and annotate directly on the files.
Interior/Landscape design - take photos of the clients space and annotate directly over the image to work on ideas with the client.

If the Info-Tech Research Group is to be believed, the iPad 2 is just a stop-gap while competitors introduce their tablets, and perhaps we'll see the iPad 3 in September.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into that article. There are very (very) few people who believe there will be two iPads released this year. His whole stance is that because it doesn't have a USB port, more RAM or a higher-res screen, there HAS to be a new one coming soon.
I'm all for speculation, but the logical side of my brain demands a little more to work with than that.

The Apple rumor mill is pretty ridiculous at times. They have been pretty methodological and consistent with updating their iOS products over the years (same time every year). There is very little reason to assume it would change. Not to mention that the updates to the products are incremental and are not huge leaps and bounds. Doubtful they could make any significant change to it within the year anyways.

I can only remember one time where they have not stayed on schedule. I bought an iPod Touch G1 8GB in January 2008 and then in early February 2008 they released the 16GB and 32GB models. Not a major update or anything but ticked me off. I ended up returning it for a 16GB model.
I cannot see another iPad 2 this year as it will be the best selling tablet whether it has those features or not. I think releasing another product that soon will piss people off this year and hurt sales next year.

In Jobs presentation he had a slide that said "2010 year of the iPad, 2011 year of the iPad 2"
A lot of analysts speculated that this meant no new iPad this year. This and Apple likes a consistant release cycle.
Also, Apple is rarely bleeding edge on Tech (Thunderbolt aside). Look how long it took them to get on i-series processors.
