Cineplex deal is off: http://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/cineworld...hain-1.1449851

I’m actually rather surprised. I thought they’d renegotiate something, but I guess it’s on to the legal battle now.

Any suggestions from the more qualified investors about putting money into :
Torex Gold Resources Inc (TXG)?
It was suggested or possibly Canadian Utilities which is paying 1.74 per year and if I bought at $30.00 or better on weakness, this would yield me 5.8 ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Those are pretty different things. A mining company is mostly a bet on their production/costs, as well as gold prices.

Canadian Utilities is a super stable dividend stock. These are at opposite ends of the risk-reward spectrum.

Disclosure: I own some CU

Some days I feel like stocks move for no reason or next to no reason. I'm in Nasdaq:LLNW, and all of a sudden it's up almost 20% on the day on some research they just reported on, and this started pre-report yesterday (though not as drastic). All the research seems repetitive of older information about the sector.

Does anyone have any good news sources? I checked Google news, twitter, investing.com, and the companies website and can't find anything.

If you have to ask for investment advice on an internet hockey forum, neither.

There are over 1,000 posts in this thread contributed by people who actually give a s--t about the subject matter, this isn't remotely helpful.

Yeah, on my list of internet pet peeves that comes in somewhere in the top 20 or so.

You see it all the time if you're looking for advice on fixing cars, plumbing, electrical.

"If you have to ask these questions, maybe you shouldn't be doing this"

Did it ever occur to you that they're trying to learn by asking questions? You know like in a class, for learning?

It reminds me of the "Let me Google that for you " craze. I did Google it and one of the top five hits was this forum you jerkwad.

Anyway, Tortures point isn't without merit. You can get yourself into trouble pretty easily by dabbling in investing some know how. But the comment was kinda drive by-ish and not particularly helpful.

I know nothing about Torex but Canadian Utilities is a dividend aristocrat with a streak of over 40 years of increasing the annual dividend (obviously good). It's in a relatively boring industry (also good) and a consistent payout ratio of around 50-60% (good). ATCO owns Canadian Utilities so you'd essentially be buying ATCO as well

Disclosure - long Canadian Utilities

I use Benzinga Pro. Squawk is awesome, as the guy call news as it comes out and I don't need to constantly mine for information. Benzinga is also really good at compiling all the data sources and SEC filings in one place, which is super helpful.

I also use Trade Ideas, and have my settings set so Holly calls out volume spikes amongst other things. When I hear ticker call outs from Holly on TI in excess or something on my watchlist, I jump to Benzinga Pro and check the news.

My broker is Questrade IQ, but I find the news on there a touch delayed there and I miss out on momentum plays if I don't have Squawk or TI open.

I also use Yahoo Finance and SeekingAlpha as supplemental sources

I hear lots about ToS too, but never tried it.

A $250 day range is so wild. TSLA speculation is fun to watch but I’m glad I have no money in that game. A 52 week low of $211 and high of $1795 is quite the range too.

I still have no clue what people are expecting from TSLA. I get Musks' musk, but I don't get the constant run ups.

What was the deal with SHOP's big drop in the second half of the day?

Didn't everything pretty much reverse today?

QQQ was up 2% then down by the same amount.

I had a couple trades execute one on the way up and one on the way down, so I was pretty happy with how the day went.

Yep. My open P/L was misleading, as one of my swings hit today and I closed my position, yet the rest of my swings were down. Then saw SPY take its dump and it was full out Red Wedding. No SLs hit though, but mighty close. Lol.

So this was me in March:

I think after the quarterly report comes out, it'll take a final plunge and return to $250-$300 and I plan on buying a decent amount. I plan on keeping it long term as I think Tesla is the new Apple.
I got greedy and I waited for 200 which never came. I currently own zero Tesla stock.

That would have been a nice payday and it’s easy to see that looking back. One analyst has raised his target for Tesla to $2300.

This stock market is insane.

Good news: market goes higher.

Bad news (is it really bad news?): market goes higher.

This tug of war back and forth between stay at home stocks and recover stocks must be a dream for traders. For a buy and hold guy like me, it's not creating many buying opportunities.
