So was this all because of the firefighter picture? Because that was simply put out of context when the beat writer posted it. Posting that before they released the video was just stupid ...

I actually think the initial idea of Scorch was pretty good - having the "surviving flame" of that big fire as a mascot was a decent idea to connect Glen Falls to the Calgary Flames. And the design? Gold, Jerry! Gold! They have no idea what kind of merchandising goldmine they've just given up on. I'm sure the new mascot will be a "play it safe" design ... so probably boring and of course inferior to the legend of Scorch.

Really disappointed with that decision. All I have left to do is honour his memory in avatar form.

Exactly. I am all for it. If we raise a big enough stink and point out just how much of a marketing goldmine they are throwing away I think we can save him. This could be bigger and more fun than wannamaker

I think it can be done. All it took was a few negative tweets and facebook comments to kill Scorch. Put a little bit of pressure on Brian Petrovek, and he will crumble like a cookie.

Best part of that article was the last line:

Petrovek said the management is designing a new mascot that will be associated with fun, not fear.

Poor misunderstood Scorch. This is a sad day for all.
