I'd cheer for the Canucks to win it all. Phil seems like a nice enough guy throughout his career.

Not cheering against a Canadian team in the playoffs is fine, but cheering FOR them to win? Noooooope. Only exception would be if it's say Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal vs. Edmonton in the finals. Then, the correct and only choice is to cheer against Edmonton, which is then support for their opponent.

I still look at the photos of Kessel's real estate listing, once every few months, and laugh:

Kessel tried to say it was just the real estate agent staging the place, but why would any real estate agent stage a listing with portrait of Kessel and a bunch of Bailey's in the wine cellar:

The single chair in the theatre room slays me.

Apparently, there's 4 movie posters: The Godfather, Rounders, Wedding Crashers, and Glitter, featuring Mariah Carey - all framed.

This thread is still hilarious.
I know. I love making fun of him, but he is like a Hero.

He's got the body and intensity of a Beer Leaguer and the skills of an Elite Athlete.

Excelling at something without even seemingly having to try while eating hotdogs and drinking beer and not caring what anyone thinks about it.

I love it.

How do you not love the guy?

All that and he holds the NHL's Ironman record!

Obviously, he is going to be way behind after not playing for what, a year and a half?

Though according to Dreger, Canucks will still be signing him.

As soon as he signs a professional contract and is activated, I believe so. Or atleast people are talking like it does. That's been an issue for teams looking at signing him

Kessel is a cheap insurance policy. No one is expecting him to be a productive member of a team but if someone goes down in the playoffs having a veteran to call upon is never a bad thing. Plus he played for Tocchet before in Arizona so he should be aquatinted with the system at the very least.

Low risk and likely low reward signing. Plus he has won and can provide some mentorship to players who have barely sniffed the playoffs before in the bubble.

Tocchet was with him in Pittsburgh too as assistant coach and was closest to him as well

Outside of situations chasing a game seems like a 4th line guy (8-10 mins a game) who can help 2nd unit PP

I'd take a flyer on him over what Edmonton did with Perry anyday

The only thing Kessel has brutally assaulted is a platter of Hot Dogs.

The Costco hot dogs are literally less than 3 minutes away at all times hes at the arena

Healthy scratch.. send someone over to Costco to pick up a 6 pack
Post game meal... the best version of your favorite food right there
Playoff game heads to 3rd OT and your stomach is rumbling? .... you know where to go

Hey...if he's producing, scoring goals and doing his job? If I'm the Aquilini's?

I go to that Costco and say "start a tab. On us."
