Bottom line is that this is a poorly constructed team. 23 games into the season and your highest paid player plays on your second line. No true #1 center, no #1 dman and absolutely nothing on the right side for depth. Did I expect us to be this bad, no. But having now seen each team in the North multiple times, we are “slotting” where we probably should be. It’s a league built on speed and we probably have the slowest collective roster in the division.

Yep, I see a lot of that with this team.

I have always been surprised that Treliving's "in on everything" approach was viewed by some as indicative of him being a good GM. IMO it has been indicative of a guy lacking an actionable strategy to building a winner.

Tonight the game was over when players were visably pissed after Rittich gave the Sens a goal minutes after battling back. Zero confidence in him the rest of the game and a team with no confidence, a 2 goal deficit seemed like 4.
What does that tell you about them, as a team?

Well, Lucic wasn't a fan of Peters, so he's in Ward corner for a few reasons.

The other players may not have liked him but responded to him for an entire season. Lucic wasn't here to see how some of the players he mentioned who aren't putting in the effort, responded under a task master when he had them 2nd in the league.

That wasn't Lucic's giveaway. He put a pass right on track to hit Bennett's tape. Somehow, Bennett missed.

Bennett was wide open and totally whiffed on it. That's inexcusable.

You know has to be another record? The number of people refusing to believe coaching matters.

But if every one contributed to a goal for each goal against that they contributed to, it would be a much closer and respectable result.

That's why Lucic is one of the very few I can maintain respect for.

Mangiapane is probably the sole other when talking about the forwards.

In early January, I was eagerly awaiting the start of a new season.

2 months later, I'm again eagerly awaiting the start of a new season.

Conversley we may have the most who went to the KHL.

No confidence. They need to get pulled into the game somehow. Big goals save or not a bad goal by the goalie. Or, the coach laying down the law and pulling them in.

There were two d pinches the last game that lead to goals which totally swung the momentum to the Flames, and then they cruised. Those are the subtle moments of fragility that the Flames need to have things go their way. Tonight they didn't get those and there was no way out of the mud.

We've had at least 3 (Keenan, Hartley, Peters) who's next coaching job was in the KHL, which also might be some kind of record.

EDIT: beaten to the punch

Watching other hockey is also just depressing.

Other teams play so, so much faster than Flames hockey. We slow it down and play ugly, garbage hockey. It is absolutely infuriating. I can’t cheer for a Geoff Ward coached team. Not after having to endure years of Gulutzan.

Just fire Treliving, because I honestly don’t think this team will improve under him anymore. It’s over. Get rid of him.

Seven years to find a goalie worth a damn.

Seven years and counting to find a competent head coach.

Doubling down on a group of players that have consistently proven themselves to be unable to get it done.

He’s just a bad GM. Yes, he’s the best we’ve had for a long time - but he’s still just bad.
