O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Jankowski did not make the final 10 Hobey Baker finalists....
as a senior Kevin Hayes made the final 10 the year Gaudreau won it.
He did not make the "final" 66.
That is kind of hard to understand as he an NHL 1st round draft pick. leading scorer (40 pts in 36 games) on the #4 ranked team in the NCAA. Walman was the only player from Providence in the final 66.
Any ideas why he is not given recognition?
Because all he's worth is a 51st overall pick in the 2017 draft.
I"m guessing it's because of Wideman cross checking the ref from behind. It could also be because Johnny Hockey's stick is no longer in production. It might have to do with the new contract that Oli Maata signed or it may even be Hartley's fault.
Maybe the NCAA thought he was drafted by the oilers and just assumed he was no good.

A bit of a pile on here, Ricardodw is actually asking a worthwhile question. I was surprised that Jankowski didn't receive any recognition at all for what was a great season when others have received a nomination for less in the past.
Of course, he might not really be interested in an answer. Judging from his posting history, it's likely just a jab at the player.

He didn't have a CP internet campaign to vote him into the top ten.
Fair question, but unanswerable. It seems like a top scorer on a ranked team should get some recognition, but it isn't as if he was robbed of anything. Zero chance of being a finalist in a real sense.

If you ignore who bumped the thread for a second it's a good question. Why isn't he in the mix at all?
Hobey Baker nominations happened early in the season, when Jankowski was playing hurt and when Jake Walman was on fire. The nominations are by the coaches and based on who they think are the top three players in the league, and then in the country. If you aren't hot when the nominations are made, you're not getting nominated. The fact that one of the top teams in the nation, and the defending national champions, has only two nominees says a lot. Obviously a team where no one player is considered bigger than the team.
Now I know there is going to be some hand wringing over this, but Jankowski can console himself in signing a pro contract and probably playing in the NHL, while the vast majority of those nominees are playing rec hockey and trying to find jobs post-college. Sucks to be the Big Jankowski.

Marty Sertich, F, Colorado College
Brett Sterling, F, Colorado College
T.J. Trevelyan, F, St. Lawrence
2007
Winner: Ryan Duncan, F, North Dakota
David Brown, G, Notre Dame*
Eric Ehn, F, Air Force*
Drew Bagnall, D, St. Lawrence
John Curry, G, Boston University
Nathan Davis, F, Miami

Bad timing is a big factor.
When the list was announced, Jankowski was in a bit of a slump. In the middle of the season, he had a 10 game stretch where he only had one goal and 4 assists. That was also when the Hobey Baker list was being compiled.
He had 7 points in his first 3 games; then 13 in his next 18 games; then he finished strong with 20 over the last 15 games.
At the time the list was being put together, Walman was the story in Providence. Walman was a sophomore D-man leading the Friars in points, putting up more than a point per game.
