About 5-6 years ago, there seemed to be this renaissance of upgraded "dumb phones" that were showing up everywhere in Asia that were potentially going to be brought to North America. But it all suddenly went quiet.
Phones like the Galaxy folder2 which was like a seriously upgraded version of the Razr or something like the Alcatel Go Flip3 seemed to be announced all the time. But these were basically refreshes of the old hardware that wasn't produced over a decade or two ago.
I even seemed to recall there were announcements of dumb phones that were basically bigger versions of older phones, like they were 9-11" dumb phones with buttons and interfaces that were like 2-3x bigger than the original 5-6" versions of those phones as some of those older phones were a bit small for the elderly to read and sometimes they were hard to hold, especially those with arthritis etc.
Instead, only occasional niche hipster dumb phones like the Light phone ended up showing up on indiegogo and kickstarter and nothing actually decent for seniors seemed to actually end up being released in North America by the big telecoms. What happened?

It always seemed like we were on the verge of a flood of really awesome Keitai phones coming to North America, but it never happened.
