For rock, I buy FLAC files from 7Digital Canada. I then burn to CD and/or transfer to Fiio lossless player.
For trance/electronic I buy FLAC files from Beatport.
I don't use a streaming service.

other than that I go to an record store who sells local indie bands I wouldn't hear of otherwise, employs a couple of people and is otherwise a great place to have a coffee and drop a few bucks, you should try it, they call it shopping

I used to use Google Play Music, but it did two things that infuriated me:
1. My uploaded tracks that I ripped from CDs would occasionally be duplicated when matched on Google's server. So I hit "play" on an album, and it plays the 5th track twice.
2. Also in album play, there was a noticeable gap between tracks. For albums that flow from one track to the other, this was really noticeable.
Some pain points with Apple Music too, but mostly it has been OK. They have slowly fixed some of my bigger complaints. The one differentiating feature for Apple Music is they have some radio shows by some known people in the industry. A lot of hip hop and electronic, which I don't care for, but a few gems for rock lovers. My favs:
Time Crisis with Ezra Koenig Ezra from Vampire Weekend and his buddy Jake talk about snack foods, the tasteful palette of 70s rock, Seinfeld, and compare the current top 5 songs to the top 5 songs from the same week from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s.
Alligator Hour with Joshua Homme Josh from Queens of the Stone Age plays a random mix of songs, and sometimes has guests hang out.
St. Vincent's Mixtape Delivery Service Annie Clark talks to someone on the phone about a big life event they are going through, and creates a mixtape that is themed for them.
I'm old school. I prefer to own my collection so I still buy full albums from iTunes, Google Play, and believe it or not, actual physical copies of vinyl and CDs from honest to god brick & mortar record shops. (yes, they still exist) Crazy, I know.

You're not alone. I like to have hard copies of my music also and buy most of my CD's off Amazon or used copies from places like Value Village. From there I download them on to my computer where I make compilation discs to play in my vehicle.

Google Play Music here too. More podcasts than Spotify. Only annoying quirk is every time it Bluetooths to my truck it automatically unshuffles all my playlists. Not sure if it's a Ford problem or a Google problem.

I use Apple Music to discover new music. If I like it, I’ll buy it. I also like owning my music and I listen to a lot of smaller artists so I like to support them by buying the album.

I still love sitting down and listening to an album cover to cover so I buy CDs and more recently, records. When I can't find a physical release I try to buy albums off of Bandcamp and baring that, Google Play or iTunes. Bandcamp is awesome since they give you a bunch of different file formats including FLAC.
I upload all of my music to Google Play and download it to my phone so I can listen on the go and in my car.
My main sources of music these days are bandcamp (linked in the last post above me from troutman) and iTunes. I rarely use streaming for listening to music.
