Ok, so that was for "outgrowing rear-facing."

I can see how you could forward face in the middle. But I've always heard to rear-face on either the driver or passenger side.

But I'm probably wrong on that account too.

How was I a jerk about it? I was only going off the information I knew at the time. I explained this.

You're an ass. How about that?

Oh and the trunk is a great play centre area for kids on a long road trip, do you have the little access door on the back of the middle seat to it? It can be like a fun tunnel to the trunk for the kids!
Thanked just for that. Well done!

Still the most cool rear facing option once you got older.

Only one word of advice

"Nothing last forever"

The tough times will soon be gone, and replaced with other different tough times.

Try to enjoy it, even the tough part of parenting. It's funny, now my kids are 7 & 9, I miss having to bath them. I also miss the wonder they saw is small everyday things.

Good luck.

It has to do with the strength of the child. If the child is walking, then they tend to have stronger neck muscles, which is important as forward facing children in accidents would have more force on their head/neck than rear-facing.

It's 20 lbs, not 25. The American Pediatric Association has recently recommended (it is not law) that children remain rear-facing until age 2 since rear-facing is a safer option. Even if their feet touch the back seat (and many fear that their legs may be broken in an accident because they don't have clearance), it's still safer than forward facing for the little ones.

We had previously had the baby in the rear passenger side because it seems safer when loading/unloading from the car seat but we're giving the driver side a shot right now.
I think she got that from the office.
